      Real confirm Pellegrini arrival
      Jun 01, 2009 09:38:44 pm
Real Madrid have confirmed that Manuel Pellegrini will be their new coach for the 2009/10 campaign.

The Chilean is set to be officially unveiled at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Pellegrini has spent the last five years in charge of Real's Primera Liga rivals Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarines had revealed on Monday that they had reached an agreement with Real for their coach to take on a new challenge in the capital.

Recently-appointed Los Blancos president Florention Perez had made acquiring Pellegrini one of his main priorities upon returning to the club for a second spell.

He has now got his man, with Juande Ramos, who took charge of Real on a short-term basis last season, stepping aside.

"Real Madrid and Manuel Pellegrini have reached a deal for the Chilean coach to be the first-team head coach during the forthcoming season," read a statement on the club's official website.

      Also:

Zinedine Zidane is back at Real Madrid after accepting a role under Florentino Perez's new regime.

The former Los Blancos star will act as an advisor to the new president, following his appointment at Santiago Bernabeu on Monday.

Zidane was taken to Real by Perez in 2001, during his first stint at the helm of the capital club.

Meanwhile, Jorge Valdano, who previously worked as sports director under Perez, has been appointed as director general and assistant to the president.

Miguel Pardeza takes over from the already-departed Predrag Mijatovic as the club's new sporting director.

Perez, who helped to oversee the 'Galacticos' era at Real during his first spell at the club, has also outlined his ambitious plans for the future.

"We will devote all our effort to building a spectacular team, with great players who are role models on and off the pitch," he said.

"A club where ethics are indestructible, and where solidarity will be a basic cornerstone of behaviour.

"The challenge that today begins for all of us is possibly the biggest and most difficult that we have ever taken on, but I assure you that we will make this Real Madrid a great symbol and example.

"We are going to rebuild and reassert the dreams of all Madridistas. We have a lot of work ahead. There is a lot to do, so let us begin."

Looks like they're attempting to make real changes then!

      I like it!  ;)

Wonder what 'One Day' Ramos will do now then? Surely he wont go to AC Milan?
