England imploded there. SA not really at the races for the first hour but like all great sides they kept going. I thought the ref gave England the marginal calls early on. As I said last week England have had a pretty easy route to the semi's, but to their credit that was a great effort tonight and on another day it could have been enough.
Great final to look forward to.

Last two scrums first Koch started pushing sideways before the hand went down ( but was close ) - but the last one Fester ( Ox ) was clearly not pushing straight - but by that time OKeefe was always going to punish England because of the 3 previous scrums
Sometimes ya gotta let go them last six scrums they got battered got pushed off their own ball , once they got that going was only going to be one outcome if it was as blatant a side squeeze as your implying it would have been picked up , as well as England played they would have scored a try if they were there till this time next week , you have to have a bit more ambition than just kicks

England got obliterated in the scrum once Genge and especially Sinkler came on, sour grapes claiming the Ref was biased he saw what was in front of him.

Their Mourinho mindset when they were on top was their downfall.

South Africa are a better team. England played very well but could not sustain it for 80 mins.

All blacks v South Africa will be a good final.

Nothing to do with sour grapes or bias - the ref was in the mindet that England were bringing the scrum when it’s clear the last two were down to the Boks - but that’s what happens when a scrums starts to dominate

      What’s clear?

That Sinkler was clearly a liability when he came on and cost England the game.

It’s clear that the bok front row caused the last two penalties 🤷‍♂️
They engaged at an angle and pushed in sideways and they knew it was going to cause a penalty

One thing I'll always hate about Union is how much emphasis is placed on the scrum. Brought up on a diet of League the Scrum is just a way of restarting the match and not a tool to win cheap penalties.

I think England were unlucky but beyond the cheap penalties South Africa realised they could win at will there was a few scruffy plays in amongst it too.

Nothing cheap about it , do it properly or get penalised, and yes the scrum is a very important part of the game a good solid scrum gives you the base to launch many a good attack phase

Not really if a ref was that biased , and blatantly letting SA get away with it the tmo would have had a word , that picture proves Fck all in the context of what you implying which is basically that the ref cheated , he would be hauled over the coals if it was as bad as your suggesting.

TMO wouldn’t get involved in that. And it’s not about bias - because of the way the scrum was going he is going to penalise England if it goes down because he believes it’s the English front row causing it because they did cause the 3 or 4 penalties before hand

The picture shows the Bok prop has engaged incorrectly and pushing in sideways which is going to collapse the scrum

World Rugby would have him thrown out of the game as England would have complained with your “it’s so obvious he’s biased” nonsense.

That's why South Africa are currently World Champs, know what to do to win.

England looked just a little bit short and you could only see one winner in that last 15 minute spell once South Africa turned on the power and strength.

Why do you always seem to resort to insults and attacks on people ?

Can people not have an interest in various sports and have the ability to understand how different sports work.

Or is that too hard for you to comprehend

They didn’t play well for large parts of the game but there was always the threat there - England were doing everything with little fault until the changes. Some silly errors didn’t help England - Boks bringing on Pollard was a brave call so early but they could see it needed to change.

Still a lot of work for England to do though for the coming 6N

Think we have got to the stage where there needs to be a rule change to scrum penalties and just make them a free kick.

Teams like SA are now using the scrum to not restart the game for what it was intended but to gain a penalty and 3 pts.

Last week and this week SA were under the pump until about 60 mins when they brought their bomb squad on to win penalties.
Will be the death of Rugby if there is not a tweak in the rules.

      A few things can help

TMO being allowed to help to watch the scrum from above , unfortunately the ref can’t SS both sides

What SA do is get very agressive on the first scrum and then if they cause the oppo to go down etc keep doing that became the ref will keep awarding in their favour

For deliberately collapsing the scrum a penalty is right but imo players popping up or going down under pressure shouldn’t be penalty - but very hard to judge

Yesterday was strange in terms of for 12 months our best two were Genge and Sinckler but yesterday Cole and Marler were immense , whilst Genge and Sinckler struggled to get into it and were dominanted for the first 3/4 scrums and that caused all the issues

Not sure what can be changed but the ref certainly needs more help at each scrum

The one thing they need to stop is feeding ?!! It’s shocking

Football has Brazil, while Rugby Union has...errr South Africa. A nation that doesn't even score tries.

Two months of posturing and hectoring but at the end of the day it's just posh boys fluff.

Amazing success story for the springboks, France, England and New Zealand all seen off by a single point.

This South Africa team will go down in history and have generated huge interest in the sport - doing things that are actually tactically interesting and making the more casual fan want to understand the impact of those changes is a huge deal, rather than keeping the sport confined to the same fans and the posh boys who learn it in school

Funny how the amazing QF is instantly forgotten and it’s now ‘South Africa can’t score tries’. They know how to win and have done it again
