Tweet now deleted, but txt remains.

It's strange because for much of the last two years, before this World Cup, most people would have believed tha

England were bang average but efficient in the qualifiers with no real certainty that Southgate was an improvement on Allardyce and Hodgson. But, to his credit, since changing to a three at the back a few months back they have got better on the field.

But we all know it's what you do in the tournaments that matters. And with Allardyce managing at this World Cup the results would have been predictably hilarious. I liked this tweet especially from a couple of weeks back:

I think this is the first time I have seen so many footballing midfielders in the England squad. Mount, Winks and Maddison. Then you have Sancho, an exceptional attacking talent. Southgate should really move away from  3 CB's and look into controlling games with his midfielders and attack.

Shame he doesn;t have the balls to play them and change formations in a friendly :)

Edit: Gareth Southgate confirms England will be switching from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3 this evening.

I prefer that role for Hendo.
With Huddersfield, Red Star and Cardiff coming up, Henderson will probably be playing.
Line ups don't bother me as much with those teams, it is about the top 8 I start to worry about Hendo.

It's absolutely sh*t, isn't it? I'm only watching it because I want to see Sancho, Maddison, Winks or Mount in action tbh.

Seeing Sancho now makes me think more young English talent should go abroad.

Only got to watch 2nd half England should of had the game won with the chances the had, always weird watching games with no supporters just a very eery vibe. Interesting to see Hendo play further up the pitch and have a bit more freedom to make runs and move the ball.

yes that was the case (some kind of acid was used). It was basically a message to the corrupt HNS (Croatian national federation whit Mamic at the helm).

England haven't won a competitive game for four games now 100 days so lets give Southgate a new contract. I don't know who could make England into a top side but I just don't see anything is Southgates career to suggest he is the man

I can see Gareth Southgate has been getting the excuses in early for the Spain game, complaining that the players are mentally fatigued and he doesn't know why the Premier League started so early.

Here's an idea why.  We're about 2 months into the football season and we have just started our FOURTH international week.

After the European Championships and a World Cup you could argue there should be no international fixtures for a good six months.  Allow international managers to get a proper look at upcoming players for the next campaign.

I am hoping to see a more footballing side to England tonight with Winks starting, but also, play Maddison instead of that shithouse of a player in Lingard!

We need Lingard or Ali instead of Sterling I think though. Maddison should take Henderson's spot.

I see the bellends have been playing up in Sevilla already!! No f**king surprise there.

Spain v England: England fans' disorder in Seville unacceptable, says FA

The behaviour of some England fans has been unacceptable before Monday's Nations League match against Spain in Seville, says the Football Association.

A group of supporters were dispersed by riot police on Sunday night.

Video footage showed fans kicking wing mirrors off parked vehicles and one man throwing a glass at a passing car in central Seville, although some complained of heavy-handed policing.

"We condemn the unacceptable behaviour witnessed in Seville," the FA said.

"With the Spain fixture still to come on Monday night, we urge those following the team to respect our hosts and act in a responsible manner."

There have been no reports of any arrests or serious injuries, but the FA said it would work with police to help identify any England fans involved in trouble.

"We will sanction any England Supporters' Travel Club member found to be responsible for disorder," it said.

More than 100 England fans were arrested in Amsterdam before England's 1-0 win in a friendly against the Netherlands in March.

Of the 13 who were identified as travel club members, one was given a life membership ban after throwing bicycles into the canal, while 10 others were given three-year suspensions.

Police say there were only three arrests from nearly 7,000 supporters who travelled from the UK to the World Cup in Russia in the summer.

"Anyone seen to be misbehaving could not only face being arrested and charged for offences in Spain, they could also be subject to a football banning order on their return to the UK," said football policing lead Mark Roberts, deputy chief constable of South Yorkshire Police.
