Surely Sterling has to score today its 3 years since his last goal FFS.

maybe without all the idiot element that usually goes with England we can enjoy this without worrying what happens outside the ground. Can we beat Russia/Croatia/Belgium or France absolutely but will we lets wait and see.

Well these scenes are certainly a far cry from Roy Hodgson scuttling down the tunnel and leaving the English players to soak up all the embarrassment, boos and the embittered post match press after that comedic loss against Iceland two year ago.

England won the U17 and U20 World cup last year, and this year, they won the U21 Toulon tournament and a possible World cup for the senior team. Maybe we should buy more English players!

Very similar team too so it just goes to show just how bad Woy was. Not that we needed showing, we had already experienced him.

It's funny watching the golden generation trying to make excuses on why they flopped so badly. They are even blaming Sven now. Probably was stunting them, but still... Who needs excuses!

Tweet now deleted, but txt remains.

It's strange because for much of the last two years, before this World Cup, most people would have believed tha

England were bang average but efficient in the qualifiers with no real certainty that Southgate was an improvement on Allardyce and Hodgson. But, to his credit, since changing to a three at the back a few months back they have got better on the field.

But we all know it's what you do in the tournaments that matters. And with Allardyce managing at this World Cup the results would have been predictably hilarious. I liked this tweet especially from a couple of weeks back:

I think this is the first time I have seen so many footballing midfielders in the England squad. Mount, Winks and Maddison. Then you have Sancho, an exceptional attacking talent. Southgate should really move away from  3 CB's and look into controlling games with his midfielders and attack.

Shame he doesn;t have the balls to play them and change formations in a friendly :)

Edit: Gareth Southgate confirms England will be switching from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3 this evening.

I prefer that role for Hendo.
With Huddersfield, Red Star and Cardiff coming up, Henderson will probably be playing.
Line ups don't bother me as much with those teams, it is about the top 8 I start to worry about Hendo.

I think England need to bring on Mount/Winks and Maddison and start using those tight spaces better.
