Was just saying the same thing with his LP. His collabs are awesome, especially the ones with Pink and Lil Wayne.

Heard about 3/4 of the album the other day when getting my hair cut.

      Very aggressive isn't it!

I'm not massively keen on the music itself but I was certainly listening intently to the lyrics.

The only thing that lets him down a bit, I feel, is the fact that he talks about his past albums too much. There seems to be a lot of "My last album wasn't me and I'm back with this" sorta thing.

I was never a big fan of Eminem but I gave him some sort of credibility for his music and I found some of his songs quite funny.
No offence to any fans of the album but I think 'Relapse' is Terrible!

His act is getting a bit tiresome now. I think he peaked at the marshall mathers LP, found bigtime fame, went commercial and lost the plot completely. He's done himself no favours by promoting those talentless gimps D12 either. A classic case of a "sell-out" artist which is a huge shame as there aren't really any rappers that come close to him.

Eminem is weird for me. I absolutely love some of his stuff, but a lot i hate as well. But some of his stuff is amongst my favorites - and 'Love the way you lie' is up there at the moment.

Recovery is good, but I still think Encore is his best album, though.

^ nail on the F***ing head, except for the part about there being no rappers that come close to him.  Eminem is pure commercial hype, wouldn't even put him in my top 10 of white rappers.

Same as Dave, some of his stuff is really compelling he almost forces you to listen but then you hear the next album and wonderWTF is that all that about, as someone said the Marshal Mathers one is a good example because he's done nothing to compare in any way.

Before i have only liked the odd tracks from various CD's but gotta say i think Recovery is boss, seems a lot more passion in it than some of the others.

      Woah man!

      Top 10 white rappers??

As I said I think he has come full circle and should probably call it quits with Recovery because some of his material is starting to sound very similar. I think in hip hop though it's the nature of the beast the whole genre is starting to dwindle down there are only so many songs you can write about your bling, bithces and jewels.

Anyways for me Eminem will always be in the top 3 rappers of all time just purely because he has a unique sound much like Pac did.

Bling, bitches and jewels do not define hiphop and it's nature though. It's not the subject matter that defines the genre, it's the beats and raps. Run DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, De La Soul etc. didn't start the genre rapping about any of that. It wasn't untill gangsterrap got popular that those subjects became popular. I think it won't be long till rappers who rap about bling, bitches and jewels only make out a small portion of all rappers since less and less rappers have a gangster background and the target audience has changed alot, though there will always be some bragging in hiphop.

Still think Eminem was better when he still used drugs, just saying :f_whistle:

You're rite tho that's why his music went off the edge, the lack of the white stuff blunted his creativity.

Listen to his new one No Love off Recovery and say that! I reckon the only thing holdinghim back as that he can only rap about his personal life so much and people keep expecting him to continue rapping about all his life and the twisted stuff in it.

Let me guess, Vanilla Ice sits at number one? Ask people in 20 years time which white rapper reinvented the game and they'll say one word - Eminem!

Nail on the head. No white rapper comes close to him! Fact is, rap is about impact. The more impact it has, the more you are remembered because it is a genre that is a lot about the story you tell. Eminem may produce some sh*t at times, but when he tells a good story passionately, i can't think of anyone better. The last few lines of his on 'Love the way you lie' almost give me shivers with the passion he instills. Have not got hold of the whole album yet, but im gonna for sure now.

Like I said before Dave there aren't many that can compell you to listen like he can when he's focused but I think he's lost that sharpness he had.
Whether it's a lack of the happy stuff or just mellowing with time and don't knock it, he hasn't got the life on the edge image he once had.

I already knew that song when I said all that. Don't really agree with that stuff about his personal life. After going on a 5 year hiatus, dealing with his drug addiction, you'd think he'd have more inspiration than ever, but he created his worst album to date. I think the problem is, he just isn't as crazy anymore as he was, or maybe just not as depressed anymore. He sobered and wisened up, and as a result lost some of his craziness, some of his edge.

I do agree that he's most definitely the best white rapper though.

I agree with all of that. As i said, you can't be crazy in every song because there's only so much you can be crazy about. He was famous for being up front and saying it like it is without holding back and expressing himself. Well, everyone knows what we feels like etc. so he can't be like that in every song.

3AM was heavily criticised but that was Eminem being graphic and disgusting and i loved it. Then releases Crack a Bottle and criticised for it being cheesy. He can't win.

I reckon Recovery is the perfect album to release right now for him. Hard hitting without the cheesiness and without most of the personal crap. He's just spitting his rhymes and i love it.

      Top 10 "white" rappers?

I can think of plenty of decent ones but none that really stand out like Eminem (but maybe that's just the commercialism?)

Who would you rate above him and why?

I know some of the rappers you mentioned vitez, but I still think Eminem's voice, flow and lyrics just stand out. I like Aesop Rock though, but many of the others you mentioned are very stuck into the old school sound, words and flows.
