      Carra admits transfer fear
Jamie Carragher hopes top players will still want to join Liverpool if they do not qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds look set to miss out on fourth place in the Premier League after a disappointing campaign, with Manchester City currently in pole position and time fast running out to overhaul a six-point deficit.

Carragher believes Liverpool have shown in the past that they are strong enough to bounce back from such disappointment.

"It will be a blow if we don't make the top four but we haven't always been there. People forget that," he said in the Daily Star.

"We've come back and we'll do it again."

One concern for Carragher is that Liverpool might find it harder to bring in the calibre of player they are looking for without the lure of Champions League football.

But the defender thinks it would be difficult for anyone to turn down a move to such a prestigious club.

"Of course it makes it harder to attract top players when you're not in the Champions League," he said.

"But the name of Liverpool attracts players on its own. It's a massive club with a great history and hopefully a great future.

"Finishing in the top four attracts players, but I think playing for Liverpool is the main attraction."

Agree totally with carra, especially about the name of Liverpool attracting players on its own

Yeah im fearing more of players being transfered out, rather than not being able to attract players due to non CL status.

Even with top 4 looking like a dwindling candle players such as Arda Turan saying if he came to Prem it would be to Liverpool

My only problem with Carra's comments is that he thinks people will want to play for us just because we're Liverpool and we were great in the past. I really don't think that's the case anymore, those days are long gone. There can't be one professional footballer that we're targetting who can even remember when we were a genuine force ie winning league titles. Given a choice of english clubs, the current generation would all want to play for Utd, Chelsea & Arsenal except for those that are LFC fans.

I actually more worried about playings 'leaving' than players coming in. No doubt I'd love 2-3 quality players to sign for us but I think it's also important we keep our squad together.

Though the name Liverpool is widely known and special enough to attract alot of players, there are players who moves for the weekly wages and medals.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United are able to offer players medals and money, something we can't really do. On our day, we can be champions and win alot but because we haven't been as dominant as the other three in the last decade or so, players would prefer to move to them than to us. This makes it difficult for us to keep up with them the following season and is a chain reaction.

What we need is some players with the right attitude and quality to join us to start a chain reaction in the opposite direction - one, two trophies and more players interested in joining us.

He should never worry about who will be coming as we all know, if these two clowns still with us there will be a slim chance a good player will come. In fact he should worry who Rafa will be forced to sell in order to buy. The fact that we're Liverpool will count to nothing if H&G still around. There's no hope of seeing a world class player in Anfield. Hopes are free players, cheap old players or most likely some young guns.

The presence of the yanks didn't effect Torres' decision to come to Liverpool.

No, but when Torres came, those clowns weren't yet referred to as such big clowns they are now!

Wasn't exactly the major issue it is now when he came! They had only been owners for a few months then.

If players don't want to come cos we are not in CL then F**k em, we don't need them. Man shitty got players despite not being in yet, so as long as we can afford themthen quality will come.

Liverpool are still one of the biggest names in world football, if we have the money we'll get the big names. Champions League or not!!

I agree with Carra.  The liverpool name still is an attractive proposition for players, but you cant deny the fact that a club who put their money were their mouth is, makes the difference in the transfer market.

Yes indeed, specially when they can make a lot of money here.
Who else want to pay them a fortune and all they need to do is sitting on the bench for most of the time?
