Yeah, they seem to have suffered from that a bit. I think a lot of it has to do with magazine shoots where they're dressed in a certain way with skinny black jeans and flesh tunnels in their ears etc. I've forced a few people to listen to them and changed their perception. Wade and George are both from reputable and heavy punk bands, Black Lungs and fu**ed up, respectively and that comes through in their sound. Added to Dallas Green's stunning vocals (as heard for City and Color) made for an incredible sound, especially live.
Can't post tracks but check these out :
Boiled Frogs
Side Walk When She Walks
No Transitory
Get Fighted
Drunks, Lovers, Sinners and Saints
This Could Be Anywhere In The World
To A Friend
Rough Hands
No Rest
That should give you a good cross-section of their sound.
Also worth listening to 44. Caliber Love Letter just to hear the way the intro builds up. I love it.
If you do like Alexisonfire, there's a young band from England who blatantly copy their style called We Are The Ocean. Not as good (yet) and certainly not as edgy but worth a listen.
