I think it's more of a case that we have no problem with Arby leaving because we can easily replace him so it's not a worry.

It's not that in my case I think of Arbeloa as a good defender and I rate him highly as he has proved to be a good acquisition by Rafa, but I respect his honesty and integrity in stating what he wants and doing it at the earliest opportunity rather than leading the fans on a transfer will he wont he embargo.

It makes me so angry seeing that fat bloke that attempts to play football I think his names Dosenna being sold more than Arbeloa who is a brilliant player.

      Dosenna-£4.3m
      Arbeloa-£4.0m

No respect here from me. He has been up front and i appreciate that but he was made who he is by Rafa. He spotted his talent when he coached at Madrid and then gave him a shot at a massive club but once they came calling, he pissed off.

I have no doubt Glen Johnson would still be in Pompey or at Chelsea or whatever if Arbeloa had appreciated what Rafa had done for him.

May seem harsh to some, not to me.

I can't believe we are selling him for so less Perez is to blame for all these blown up prices ...we will not be fu**ed over we have to sell Arby for 9mil  think that is a good price for him . I hope he doesn't leave ...he is a good player and is reliable at most time and can play in any of the defensive positions .

Crocuhinho ...I do think you are being a little harsh on Arby .

With only a year left on his contract that is not a bad price. I think Darby will be good competition for Johnson so we can put the money to good use.

My Dream Return To Real Madrid Is Close - Liverpool Defender Arbeloa

The Reds could be about to do a deal with the Spanish giants...

      28 Jul 2009 12:30:44

Alvaro Arbeloa is confident that his dream return to Real Madrid could go ahead in the next few days as negotiations between Liverpool and the Spanish club continue.

The 26-year-old full-back is keen to go back to the Bernabeu four years after leaving having failed to impress having come through the youth ranks at the club.

While some predict that Madrid could wait and try and link the move to Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa himself hopes that a transfer can be done that will see him move separately.

"At the moment I am focused on Liverpool but it is true that the deal is close to being completed," The Sun quote him as saying.

"We'll see what happens in the next few days. If we can all make an effort so the negotiations come to a good end, we will all come out having benefited, which is what everyone wants.

"I insist everything is going forward and everyone is in agreement - I am the one who has the most desire to sign for Madrid.

"I don't know what the likelihood is in percentages, it's a question more for the clubs. But, as I understand, it seems everything is going well and there is little left to resolve.

"It could all be sealed this week."

Last year of his contract, never going to get that much for him.

I'm not being harsh, i'm being brutally honest. We're blowing up about Xabi's situation but he is being more sensitive towards us than Arby.

If we're basing our opinion on what we read then Xabi doesnt want to sour his relationship with us which shows he really cares about our admiration for him.

Would Arby be where he is if we didnt sign him? He was some guy playing in Spain after failing to break through at a big club and then came here under Rafa (who was the only guy to take a chance on him because he knew his game from his Madrid days) and now is a Spanish international. He has come out, no worries, off i go and see you later.

If it weren't for Johnson being here, i highly doubt we would be so accepting.

      PS: Tamyka, big no no.

Wont it be better to have great back up in every position? Ideally yes but football doesnt work that way, especially when theres a little matter called the World Cup soon.

Good luck in Spain Arbeloa, maybe that was you dream, I don't know. I shouted for you to stay at Liverpool when I met you that day.. but it looks like you want to chase your dream.

If that is the case, then off you go.. you will leave with our best wishes, never forget that it was this club which moulded your career, and no doubt you will continue to follow us when you finally do move to Spain.

Never forget your roots, never forget Anfield, and most of all, never forget Liverpool!!

I always had plenty of time for Arby, a versatile and dependable defender.

Shame his heart is elsewhere, but we've found a decent replacement in Johnson, and with Degen (:-\) and Darby also competing for that spot we can make do without him.

Thanks for the memories, good luck with your new, smaller, club.

But seriously good luck to you at Madrid and only YOU . Not the rest of your teammates (if Xabi doesn't leave that is)

Arby is NOT a great right back, he is fairly good, Glen is a big improvement in my opinion.

I'm upset he's leaving, i thought he was good.

But we'll miss you Arby, best of luck at your new club.

I'll definitely miss him jumping on everyone's backs every time we score.
