If he really thinks he's going to over take Sergio Ramos at right back then his head is somewhere else.

He may of just dug his own grave.

Arby is NOT a great right back, he is fairly good, Glen is a big improvement in my opinion.

Arby is a great right back and very versatile and kept Leo Messi quiet too....he is a great player , he's not average he's just not that good at going forward and a bit shaky at times .

Also there's nobody to jump all over the other players when they score ..I'd be more than happy to jump on Nando and the lads when we score but security would pull me away before i have time to do anything else ... :f_tongueincheek:

I agree he'd get more games here ..especially with Fabio's injury we could see him playing as a left back .. but he's playing nonetheless .

Arbeloa has lost his mind seeing that the world cup is approaching and he thinks that he will get more games at real Madrid.

All the best Arby. You've been a good right back for us. I still think you will be getting more games here than you will at Madrid. You have to dislodge Sergio Ramos there.

I suppose it's Ramos at centreback? Seeing that Cannavaro has moved to Italy.

Either way, he'll look back in a years time and realise what a F**k up hes made leaving us. And i truly mean that, i think hes better suited to the Premiership.

I will be sorry to see him go as he has done a great job for us.

Thought he was leaving because of arrival of Johnson and he was not going to be first choice but isn't he going to be in the same situation there.

Could see him getting more games with us this season than with Real.

      Good luck anyway

IMO he should be played ahead of Ramos, but he won't be. So leaving here where i think he would have a good shot at the LB position seems quite daft to me, but good luck to him anyways. He'll look back in a few years and wish he stayed.

Arrived as an unknown and leaves as an International. Been a great player for us and always gave his all, will be a shame to see him go but seeing as he's in his last year of contract we have no choice really or we will lose out on some much needed money.

Dont get why he is going to Madrid though because Ramos will be first choice every week :-\

      Ah well, good luck Arby!

I'll be sorry to see him go. I expect he'll slot in at LB at Madrid if Heinze is on his way out.Good luck Arby and thanks for what you did for our club.

      Jul 28 2009

Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa says he is close to completing a transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid, say sources in Spain.

Andrea Dossena is another defender possibly heading out of Anfield. The player's agent has told Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss that Liverpool have accepted a £4.3m offer from Napoli for the 27-year-old.

I have just received an email from Anfield on Line and it quotes Arbeloa as saying the transfer to Real Madrid is almost done. The figure quoted by Anfield on Line is 4 million pounds.I suppose this is reasonable considering he only has one year left on his contract.

I also am sad that we are about to lose him.

That would leave Degan and Darby as cover.
