Very, very disappointed.
I have a lot of time for Fabio, a technically gifted player, versatile and skillful. I was interested when I read what Reina said about him being (in his opinion of course) one of the best players in the Premier League. It's a shame that because of his injuries woes, he's spent a lot of time regaining fitness and form, and as such we've struggled to see the best of him.
Last season he was able to get quite a lot of playing time, and I don't think it's a coincidence that we've seen him playing some of his best football during that period. I was hopeful that this would carry on into the new season, but that looks doubtful now, unfortunately. Had he stayed fit during his career I think he could probably have been a higher profile player than he is, but for some players that's just the way it is.
Still, I wouldn't put him in the same bag as Degen, because Fabio has already proven to be an excellent player, and has given a lot to the club. Degen is, as yet, an unknown quantity with everything to prove.
I just hope he gets fit soon, as he turns 30 later on this year and with the injuries racking up his days look more numbered than some of the others sadly.
