Films I'm most looking forward to in the early New Year.

      The Revenant.

      Joy.

The Revenant hopefully will finally see Leo DiCaprio, I feel a very underrated actor, get the Oscar and Joy is the latest from one of my favourite directors in David O Russell.

How did I forget to add The Hateful 8 to this?

And after reading a few reviews about Joy  not so sure but we'll see.

I was going to watch that tonight, but was forced to watch The Intern with my wife instead. Not bad for a chick flick, De Niro plays a good part, but it's not a great film (at least not for men) 5/10

Trumbo is worth a watch mate. Another film based on a true story, about the Hollywood screen writers blacklisted for having been communists. Takes a while to get going but well worth persevering with. Stars Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, John Goodman. 7/10

      Thanks Saint.

Watched Bridge of Spies - not bad, and deffo worthy of a watch. 7/10

Watched the Hateful 8 last night. Old Tarentino is on the wane. Typically, 2hr and 47 mins of movie time are taken up by 2hrs of dialogue. If it wasn't for the cast (who keep him alive), this movie would be rated as a 'C' grade, but alas he survives by the coat-tails of his actors IMO. 6/10, 4 if it wasn't for Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Revenant is a beast of a movie.

The bear scene is something else.

Daniel Craig has been the best Bond for me since Connery. Love the new movies. Felt like Brosnan was doing the franchise an injustice.

I wasn't keen on the Bronsan ones too much.

Craig is okay. Don't like the way the personal story has been implemented into it. Wrecked it IMO.

I can't watch Dalton he is hopeless. Still love hearing Moore's one liners ."keeping the British end up".
But Sean Connery is still the man and any one who can wear a one piece blue mankini type of thing deserves all the credit he can get.

      Me too... chuckling funny.

Personally, I'd have Moore behind Connery, then Craig.

I thought that Moore stayed to long and that towards the end the films became more like "Our man Flint" rather than James Bond.

Watched The Big Short last night, again based on a true story about the banks, sub prime mortgages and the very big collapse. Very strange film but well worth watching. stars  Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling 8/10

Remember seeing it for the first time as a 10 year old - had me gripped from start to finish! Great great film! Spielberg was only 25/26 I think when he did it. Great achievement for such a young director.

Another fantastic Spielberg movie is on BBC 2 tomorrow night - Catch Me If You Can.

I can't wait to watch The Hateful Eight. It's one of those films I just know I'll love. But who knows - I have really high expectations, which sometimes can be frustrated. But really, the only way I may not enjoy it is if the film proves to be total sh*t, and I don't think that will be the case!

Also haven't watched Star Wars yet because I feel like I need a marathon of the old films in order to remember a few things!
