Watched Magnificent Seven the other day.

I always make a run on Denzel Washington's movies, I think he's a great actor to watch - one of my favourites.

As for the movie, Westerns only go so far in my book (3:10 to Yuma was probably the best one I've seen in recent history), so there isn't much scope to improve upon, Denzel was good though, worth a watch.

      7/10

Went to see rogue one this morning as
A good friend was unable to go so he gave me his ticket.
The film itself was fantastic and right up there with the ESB in my book
And a great standalone film in the Star Wars universe, the first half hour was a bit choppy but once it got going it was brilliant, lots of subtle nods to the original trilogy, great Special effects & the droid K-2SO providing some real laugh out moments, the last 30 minutes of the film were barnstorming
And worth the entrance fee alone, for those planning on taking there children then I must say the film is very dark in tone.
All in all Gareth Edwards has done a great job ,the story felt very gritty and not derivative at all,Donnie yen, forest Whitaker, mads mickkelson where brilliant ....and felicity jones who plays jyn was brilliant as well as being fit as....10/10 for me.
Roll on Saturday for a second viewing.

Well now you've got me all worked up about wanting to see this.
Still smiling like a right idiot after seeing it,It's visually epic and does raise the bar for future Saga or standalone films in the universe. I'd also like to thank Mr Edwards for the great little touches, suprises and easter eggs throughout the film that took it up quite a few notches. It's not just a great SW film it's a great film full stop.
One more thing There's loads of stuff in the film I wasn't expecting and had I seen all the trailers, some of that impact would have been diminished. I've also (since) seen hugely revealing tv spots and the interwebby is awash with spoilers so my advice I would avoid the reviews and YouTube if you don't want to ruin the experience.
Looking forward to what others think ...,one other thing X-wing fighters are still the coolest ships in the galaxy
      Even to a 49yo.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy Rogue One anywhere near as much as I hoped to.

While it's a visually beautiful movie and the aesthetic is in line with the original trilogy thats where the enjoyment ended for me.

I thought the tone was way to dour for a star wars movie. There was no fun or sense of wonder to it. I understand its supposed to be a war movie in space but it completely lost sight of what made the original trilogy great... the characters!

The characters in R1 had no personality for me so it was hard to care about any of them or their mission in the end. Also the movie has absolutely zero humour which is very odd. Even the prequels at least attempted some humour.

I wasn't blown away by TFA last year but for me it's a far far superior movie as it retained the essence of star wars with well written characters, humour, fun, and a sense of wonder. Rogue One has none of this.

For me it's the worst star wars movie I have seen since Phantom Menace. Basically a really expensive fan made movie for adults.

I'm sure many will enjoy it but for me it wasn't a true Star Wars movie.

As a straight action movie with great visuals it was ok mate. But as a Star Wars movie I expected more from it, namely better written main characters with charisma.

I did love those last 3 minutes though :)

The CGI was impressive but its not quite there yet for me so was a bit distracting.

      Nice one mate, enjoy!

Went to see Rogue One last night, for me a very good story line, I realised what the ending would consist of because of one phrase in 'A New Hope'.

The character CGI was very good, as it enabled some continuity for the sequel.

      Really enjoyed it.

Watched 'Bone Tomahawk' last night on Netflix. Not sure how I'd class it, Western/Horror I guess. If you like Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson, worth a watch. Kurt's always good :) Bit of a stretch on the disbeliefometer, but hey, what the.  Reminded me in parts of The Descent - the Troglodyte fellers. Crunchily gorey in parts, not for the faint hearted those bits. I'd agree with the 7.1 on IMDB I think.

Must give that one a watch mate. I like some of those genre crossover horrors like From Dusk Till Dawn.

      Nice list mate.

Think Arrival will top most peoples list for this year.

      Fantastic movie.

Can't wait to see what the director does with the Blade Runner sequel next year.
