Once a film is remade the original usually disappears from existence.

Which one the original or one with Bruce Willis ?

The original. Just read there was a remake in the late 90s. Have you seen it?

Not bad for a remake think Richard Gere in it as well . Remakes never usually touch the original and it probably doesn't but not the worst

      Hmm, dunno about that:
      Ben Hur
      Total Recall
      The Magnificent Seven
      The Thing

Watched the Papillon remake there recently. Saw the original a million years ago and can't remember it, so can't really compare too well - but the new one was watchable.

Utter sh*te in all honesty. From Gere's crap Irish accent to the almost lazy storyline. Nowhere near good as the original. Not many remade films that are as good as the originals.

I don't think any remake has ever bested the original.

Maybe a couple of horror flicks like dawn of the dead or the fly but that's about it.

Watched two animated flicks this weekend both brilliant.

First was Wolfwalkers which is a stunning and original Irish fantasy.

The second was Soul, which has the best CG animation I have seen yet. Beautiful story and great music score.

I imagine both will be going head to head for the best animated movie oscar.

Definitely. Couldn’t finish both of them. Not sure what the people behind them can have the nerve to even release them  :f_wah:

The new Tom Hanks film News of the World on Netflix. What a lovely film that is. Hanks as ever is perfect but his young German co star who played Johanna was phenomenal. Wonderful on screen pairing!

Flicked past that before but on the sole basis of your nomination I will watch it this weekend.

Watched The Martian again instead. Love me some Matt Damon. Think it stems from the worlds best trilogy Bourne.

It's a slow paced film but very lovely with heart and wide vistas. As you mentioned it, it's directed by Paul Greengrass who did a few Bourne films. To my shame I've never seen a Bourne film. I really have to.

Zero Dark Thirty on Amazon. Never seen it before but thoroughly entertaining depiction of the Bin Laden hunt. Highly recommend!
