Finally managed to watch it, The Suicide Squad, and I was very excited after the rave reviews, but all I can say is it reminded me exactly why I rarely read reviews these days…

Was terrible, the first was bad but this was worse. Felt like a violent Dr Who episode.

Everything is overhyped these days. Probably from critics paid off by the big studios to write positive reviews. Can't remember the last time I watched a movie that lived up to the hype.

But yea it's really bad definitely worst than the first one.

I'd like to see Ayer's cut of his Suicide Squad. Can't see the studio allowing it though especially after the success of Snyder's cut of Justice League. If Ayer's cut was met with similar praise the studio execs would have even more egg on their faces.

Saw Jungle Cruise a couple of weeks back. Typical Disney stuff. Felt like a cross between Pirates of the Caribbean and Jumanji. Entertaining but obviously not very deep.

I've kind of lost my desire to see many movies in theatres these days. All the action movies seem to be rehashes of stuff already done. Good comedies are few and far between. The thing I miss the most about the movies isn't the movies...it's the Popcorn, milk duds and soda.

Will say I'm looking forward to the new Bond film. I'll be first in line for that one.

It’s the films like The Lighthouse I enjoy now, I go in nothing nothing and it’s like something I haven’t experienced before.

A24 have defo had the best movie releases for the last few years now.

Agreed mate the majority of original movies now are from A24.

Actually I have planned to watch The Lighthouse this weekend it's on the radar for a while.

Same mate I used to love the cinema but very little released that interests me anymore. I've lost interest in superhero and star wars movies, and a lot of the big budget nonsense like fast and the furious sequels. It's just all gone very stale.

Only movies I'm interested to see on the big screen this year are Dune, Top Gun 2 and Matrix 4, and they are all remakes and sequels.

I still enjoy the big blockbusters and superhero stuff but also love things like The Lighthouse.

I like to get a variety of movies over the year.

Got to see The Many Saints of Newark last night.

Now I'm a huge Sopranos fan but really was in two minds about this one and after seeing it left me a bit flat.

A solid enough mob movie with a good performance from Allessandro Nivola as Dicky but as the film went on it ran out of legs and for me even though it was good fun seeing all of the characters in their younger days done of them really did stray to much into caricature territory.

Michael Gandolfini was also very good as the young Tony but  I think this would have been much better as a mini series or even full season TV show

Could never get into mafia movies. Don't know why, never that appealing to me. Now...give me Narcos any day of the week. :D

Saw No Time To Die. A solid way for Craig to bow out of the role. Quite satisfied with it in the end. It sits a comfortable third behind Skyfall and Casino Royale in the Craig canon.

Couple of wayward misses aside (Quantum of Solace and Spectre) he totally does it for me - the best Bond of all time. He made Bond a believable character and not a continuation of the cartoon, tacky, 2D sleazeball that basically defined the character before him.

It'll be interesting to see where they go from here. Even though the producers weren't brave enough to let Danny Boyle have a free run on this one, it'll definitely need someone like him to reboot the franchise in a way that is refreshing and energetic.

      No Time To Die.

A good Bond movie but not a great one.

Tied up the Craig era but not a patch on Casino Royale which is the best of them all for me.

Agree with that - good but not great. Bond franchise could badly do with a left turn choice of director next time round.

Talking of Casino Royale - I just watched Mads Mikkelsen in The Hunt (streaming on Amazon). A fine actor in a fantastic film, hard hitting too. Fully recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.

If you enjoy Mads Mikkelsen, I highly recommand Arctic. One of the best survival films I've seen.

Finished Squid Game last night :)

Watching the first episode, nearly packed it in - but it improved once they games started.

Deffo has some good moments, the tug of war was good craic :)
      Didn't like the VIPs.

The ending got dissed a bit, but I thought it was OK - and deffo sets up Series II

Not up there with the best series I've seen, but is watchable imho.

Pretty much my take on it. First episode I was about to give up. Then it got better.
The VIP were like something out of fifty shades of grey.
I’ll probably watch season 2.... depending on what else is on.

I think it’s on amazon prime. I’m sure Iv listed it as one to watch.
I rewatched The Road the other day. I forgot how good, if not dreary, that is. Does justice to the novel.
