I’m off to watch that 65 tomorrow night. Kids like dinosaurs and I like popcorn.

      Air.

Who thought a movie about a basketball shoe could be so compelling.

Loved it. Always a big fan of Ben Affleck as a director.

      Seen Mission Impossible last week.

Lot of fun but falls short of the previous McQuarrie ones.

      Don't think they'll top Fallout.

      Couple last night.

      Layer Cake

First time I've watched in years and still good. Daniel Craig's 007 audition.

      The Social Network

Still the best movie of the 2010's for me.

Oppy was pretty good, reminded me of JFK,
but I thought there would ve been more nuclear blast porn.
There was a sexy young lady in the audience  in a tight pink dress, she must've thought she was going to see Barbie.

Probably going to see both on the same day, it's a thing apparently.

Saw Dead Reckoning today. Well worth the money, great fun and includes all the things I love in an action movie.

I also saw Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny today. Now, my expectations were tempered by some humdrum reviews and my brother messaging me that it was a complete mess. (We were both avid Indy fans growing up so a lot rode on this )

I have to say I was very very pleasantly surprised. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was just a joy to see Harrison Ford donning the fedora and whip again but I thought Phoebe Waller Bridge was wonderful as his companion - definitely up there with Karen Allen and Sean Connery in the Indy companion stakes. She was ace. I really liked Mads Mikkelson as the villain - I love him in anything and everything but he held the role of the Indy villain well. Such a palette cleanser from Cate Blanchett's forgettable and quite frankly abysmal Russian villain in Crystal Skull. Toby Jones as well - a true successor to Denholm Elliott's Marcus Brody in the original movies. And the sequence in Greece was vintage Indy - it was great to see him go globetrotting again.

For sure, it's far from perfect - the CGI heavy, de-aged intro sequence didn't quite hit the mark and Boyd Holbrook as Mads's partner in crime was off tone, uncomical and too psychopathic for an Indiana Jones film. It maybe missed Spielberg's seamless, stone skimming storytelling as well. But there's a lot to really like, some of it I love. Well worth the trip to the cinema and a worthy successor to the original trilogy of films and doing enough to flip the wrongs of Crystal Skull.

      Just finished The Deepest Breath.

Wasn't aware of this sport or this story but very moving film.

      We'll worth a watch.

I've done Barbinheimer but didn't watch both on the same day so don't know if that still counts. 2 very good films.
Watched Oppenheimer first, I'm a big fan of Nolan and this is 1 of his best films. It jumps between 3 time periods but it does not have a complicated structure like a lot of his films. There have been a lot of Biopics made, usually about men and this is 1 of the best I've seen.
Barbie is absolute quality, very subversive at times but it can also be quite superficial in some places. It definitely deserves lots of awards, the writing is very clever but it might annoy to many people to get the respect it deserves. If you have seen the Lego movie, it's similar to that but with much more political commentary.

      Just back from Oppenheimer.

Now that was a cinematic experience.

Best film I've seen this year by a country mile.

Watched Dune the other day, part one it said, ok maybe there's another book, as I've seen the original film.

Enjoying it, and then it ended, and I'm like WTF!

Part 2 is due out later in the year, a trailer has already been released online. Some talk that it might be delayed due to the Hollywood strikes.

Part 2 is going to be a very good film but I'm biased, I'm a big fan of the book.

If you can get passed the fact he’s a manc I’ve been watching Beckham on Netflix. It’s actually a good watch, maybe pretend you support England, it’s quite moving in places that some ardent Liverpool fans may just laugh at.

Killers of the Flower Moon was fantastic. A harrowing tale sensitively dealt with by Scorsese and DiCaprio, De Niro and Lily Gladstone are superb. It's long (3 hour 20 minutes) but the topic and the performances made sure that every minute was earned.  Subtle bit of brilliance - one of Scorsese's best.

Might have to wait until it's on Apple TV. Struggling to fit this one in.

      I usually avoid all those
      Women-are-Great, all-men-are-evil-lecherous -cu*ts films
But I like Jennifer Garner and The Royal Hotel wasn't bad, not really a thriller  but there were a few good scenes.

Minority Report on Amazon. An absolute treat. I never get bored of watching it. Amazing pace, great acting, great plot. One of Spielberg's top tier films imo.

Quite the opposite in my case. I found the first 20 minutes or so like an Indiana Jones movie. Rest was meh and I kept looking at my watch as to when this is going to end. It was better than the atrocious Crystal Skulls for sure but not a good movie at all.
