Quentin Tarantino's new film with Di Caprio & Brad Pitt, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is brilliant.

Watched the new lion king. Doesn’t compare at all the original.

The realism is amazing but it doesn’t work, you can’t see/feel any of the emotion and the voice acting comes off as very monotone and one dimensional as a result.

Watched Stuber,  it's saved from mediocrity and a tired plot by the performances of Kumil Nunjiani and Dave Bautista, but their on screen chemistry is all this film has going for it.

I refuse to watch the new reworked version, as you say CGI is great and the voices just don’t suit the character..

Should have kept original voice overs & the original darker mane scar...

Hobbs And Shaw, turn your brain off and just enjoy the mindless romp. Only ever seen the first in the Fast and Furious franchise though, judging by the number of wrestling in-jokes from The Rock and a few film references from Statham, I can only assume their is more in here for fans of the franchise.

Saw the Apollo 11 documentary. One of the best documentaries I've seen - can't remember seeing old film footage look so beautifully restored and glossy as it looked on that film. The build up and launch sequence of Apollo 11 is one of the best things I've ever seen in a cinema.

Breathtaking and a beautiful reminder of just how ambitious and glorious humanity was and still can be. I'd absolutely love to see something like that in my lifetime.

So all of Neil Armstrong's and Buzz Aldrins stories are pure jackanory?

Saying the moon landings never happened, puts you on a par with the dickhead flat earthers!!

Humanity in a nutshell - for every optimistic, brilliant and pioneering genius of a Neil Armstrong, it seems that it has to be balanced by a cynical nut job peddling non-sensical bullshit.

Let me guess, you believe every conspiracy theory out there?

On movies, watched the new Netflix movie Shaft with Samuel L Jackson. Very funny! Really enjoyable watch and would recommend.

Watched Spider-Man Far From Home last night/this morning.

Gone straight to the top and is now my favourite Spider-man movie.

      Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
      still my favourite. Absolute masterpiece.

Finally got around to watching Logan. Loved the action, the acting, stunning cinematography, it was a beautiful story and yet, at the end, I felt underwhelmed, disappointed, a little let down. It was like the film was less than the sum of its parts.

So conflicted, this is going to need a rewatch, just going to have to leave it a little while though.

For me the setup and the fact that it's the closing of the arc for Jackman and Stewart is probably the main selling point.
Loved it, especially the Noir version, but felt like it needed something more than a Cowboy film line as a send off.

Seen that Shaft, actually thought it was better than the first Shaft film Samuel L Jackson was in.

Two movies I am looking forward to seeing: Jo Jo Rabbit and Ad Astra. Hopefully they live up to the trailers.

A disjointed thought on movies: Do you ever go a long,  LONG time without seeing a popular movie, and then when you see it much later you wonder what the big deal is/was?

This has happened to me this evening with Independence Day. The only interesting thing about it to me was which would turn to be more abysmal, the cliche-filled dialogue or the overall story line. It really seems they made this one as they went along. Such a poor use of time it was for me to watch this.

Independence Day is a good damn flag waving American blockbuster classic.

And the special effects were out if this world at the time.

It was an incredible experience to watch as a kid in the cinema.

Must watch it again some day for the nostalgia factor.

When I watched it originally, I thought it was a satire, but apparently not.

Good special effects, and that's about it.
Not a film I'd go out of my way to watch again.

Saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Some excellent moments and the film probably rewards prior knowledge of Hollywood at that time but my oh my - a near 3 hour movie and yet I felt hellishly little actually happened. Stylish but lacking so much substance.

By contrast I FINALLY got round to seeing Dunkirk on Amazon Prime and oh my god, I was floored. The intensity is just unbelievable and that malign and dark score by Zimmer only adds to the suspense, dread and horror of the unfolding events. For Nolan to weave three perspectives into one and make it work was just incredible. An amazing depiction of a horrifying yet remarkable piece of history. It's the sense of hopelessness that is palpable most of all - a seemingly unstoppable Nazi onslaught that is rarely visible (which only makes it scarier) all the while displaying the bravery of the men and women involved, something that never strays into the sort of demeaning flag waving that so many war films do (especially American ones). You really get a sense of what many must have thought was happening - the fear of a total Nazi wipeout that would eventually sweep Britain.

Maybe the best war film I've ever seen. A masterpiece and one that I think I will go back to time and time again.

Cheesey as sh*t and introduced Will Smith to Hollywood. Bill Pullman hamming it up as president is funny too. Miles better than the atrocious sequel.

Really would love to see that. Been a long time since I sat through an action movie and I actually really like Tom Cruise. He may be a joke to some but he's made his fair share of superb films! Underrated if anything!
