Seen The Irishman during the week and although it's on Netflix in a few weeks it's well worth a trip to the cinema if it's showing near you.

Scorsese on top form and even though it's 3 and a half hours long always holds your interest and one of the film's of the year for me.

Will have to catch it. Do you know which chains are showing it? Don't think it's on at my local cinema.

I saw Le Mans 66 (titled Ford v Ferrari in America) earlier. Fantastic film. Matt Damon and Christian Bale putting in fantastic performances and ultimately a fine tribute to Ken Miles.

Looking to watch that sometime this week, from the clips I've seen it does look a good film.

Also wanting to watch the new film Knives Out with Daniel Craig & Chris Evans which is out the end of the month.

Le Mans 66 is next on my list then Knives Out.

On The Irishman we were lucky over here as Omniplex, the biggest chain in Ireland, was showing it in virtually every location so only a couple mins away from me. I don't think it got a wide release anywhere else and think possibly only London.

Just got around to watching Yesterday a week or so ago, have watched it twice again since then, once with the family. Absolutely loved it. While it plays as a somewhat simple little feel good film, I actually thought there were some intricate things going on and very thought provoking in a lot of different ways for me.

Yeah The Irishman is another one that sounds like it'll be a good watch, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Stephen Graham all appear in what should be another cracker from Scorcese.

Actually ended up watching Le Mans66 last night, superb film. Bale and Damon are brilliant and the proper anal retentiveness of the Ford Execs really shines through from the likes of Bernthal and Lucas, only let down was reading about his death and then learning that Ken Miles actually took part in the 65 Le Mans, which obviously differs from the film.

Also great to see Le Mans actually being bigged up as it seems to have become a bit of a forgotten race in the last decade or so.

Le mans is pure car porn. Damon is great but Bale is a bit annoying and they shouldve made better use of The Sonics Have Love

Too much of a cliched song these days probably.

Yeah I never knew Miles took part in Le Mans a year previous either but I don't think it detracted from the film. Being a film I suppose they are allowed to take artistic license. Like you I loved the tension with the Ford Execs as well.

There are a lot more great films from that era of motor racing to be made such was the level of bravery, innovation and sheer iconography. (There's bound to be a great film on Jim Clark somewhere down the line!)

Seen this last night and it was superb. As you say Damon and Bale were fantastic alongside some great support. Also the cinematography and sound design was top class and really put you in the seat of those cars.

Still fantastic and possibly my favourite of all the Star Wars films.

Saw Rise of Skywalker and was pleasantly surprised. I had low expectations coming in and I absolutely hated TLJ. This movie redeemed the trilogy for me. I will probably try to go see it again in the theater.

Disney culls 'Fox' from 20th Century Fox in rebrand

Disney executives have cut the word "Fox" from their 20th Century Fox film studio in an apparent bid to distance it from operations of the previous owner, Rupert Murdoch.

US media suggests Disney does not want to it to be associated with the media mogul's highly partisan, right-wing Fox News network.

However, Disney has not clarified its reasons.

It bought the studio, with other media operations, in a $71bn deal last March.

20th Century Fox is known for producing some of the biggest films of all-time, including Avatar and Titanic.

Variety magazine, which broke the news about the name change, said it had spoken to an unnamed Disney source, who said: "I think the Fox name means Murdoch, and that is toxic."

Hollywood is known for being liberal, unlike the Australian tycoon.

Disney has also renamed Fox Searchlight Pictures, the arthouse arm, as simply Searchlight Pictures.

Staff emails were changed on Friday, from @fox.com to @20thcenturystudios.com or @searchlight.com.

he original 20th Century Fox company was formed in 1935 following a merger.

Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation bought it in the mid-1980s, and the Fox News channel was created in 1996, growing to become most-watched in the US.

News Corporation was later split into News Corp and 21st Century Fox - which Disney acquired as the parent company of various film and television studios, including the renowned 20th Century Fox.

The Murdoch family retained the news outlets in a spin-off company, Fox Corporation, which is run by Rupert Murdoch's son Lachland.

Variety says the 20th Century Fox studio's well-known fanfare theme and searchlight logo will be retained.

Disney also runs 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios. Any changes to their names have not been announced.

Disney is already a dominant force in US news, as the owner of the ABC network. It is also hoping to challenge Netflix with its own streaming service Disney+, which launched in the US last year.

      1917

      Absolutely stunning film.

See it on the biggest screen you can. As well as a technical triumph it also puts you right in the place of those young men at war a hundred years ago.

First trip to the cinema in almost a year the other day to watch 1917.

Some film. One of the best I've seen in a long time.

Watched 'Greta' with one of the kids [girl], was decent, but imho Neil Jordan is always watchable.

Also saw the latest Star Wars and tbh feel like if I never saw another one would not care, just think they've fallen so far from the first two. In saying that, was probably just about the best of the last three.

Haven't seen 1917 yet, most have something about it to get the Golden Globe, and a lot of people saying its great, but would be disappointed if Joker didn't get the Oscar for best film, just thought that was best movie had seen in years.

Joker's my fave film from last year. Considering what it's based on, Todd Philips has made a brilliant thought provoking film and Joaquin Pheonix is F***ing brilliant in it.

Same mate I don't visit the cinema as much as I used to mainly due to a lack of new movies that interest me.

1917 is the first in a few months and it's definitely a must see on the big screen I feel it would lose all of it's impact on the tv.

Disappointed Joker didn't get the Oscar for best movie. Though at least Phoenix got Best Actor.
Some proper competition this year unlike some other years, with 1917 and The Irishman in there.
Haven't seen Parasite, saw some reviews saying it was the movie Joker wanted to be, but it had want to be very VERY good in that case …
Watched about 25 mins of Marriage Story with the missus, had to pack it in, pile of sh*te, thought Scarlet was crap.
