Watched Joker, it's interesting but it's going to take another watch to decide if I like it or not.

I’m with you on that. I can see why it was lauded, but personally thought it was a bit contrived.

Enjoyed it and a very good movie but the influences were so obvious I couldn't totally invest in it.

After watching it my wife came out of the cinema banging on how Phoenix was the best onscreen Joker while I maintained Heath Ledger's was superior.

Went to The Dark Night a few weeks back in the cinema and you can guess what she said on finishing that movie again. ;D

Best joker will always be Jack Nicholson and the characters is probably the most overrated in film history  :couch:

It's not the most original movie in terms of style borrowed heavily from Scorsese's 70's era. But Phoenix's performance alone elevates it to modern classic status for me.

Agree. Ledger played the modern version of the joker the best.

Nicholson nailed the somewhat campy but still slightly terrifying joker as a reference to the original TV show.

If you haven’t checked out The Devil All The Time on Netflix, then do so, great watch!

Only seen three seasons of Gotham, but thoroughly enjoyed their spin on the character.

      It's in my list.

Watched a couple of films yesterday.

Zombieland Double Tap. Not quite as good as the original but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Great intro to the Trilogy which I'm going through for the second time.

Just going past the St Georges Hall which has been turned into Gotham. Just waiting to see if Batman will be chasing any lads doing wheelies on their bikes in the Batmobile

Got round to watching the Joker and thought it was great. Phoenix played it superbly as well, thought he nailed it as he’s not the actor Nicholson is IMO

Went to my Mum's last night specifically to watch this, she has Amazon. Hilarious, really impressed with the actor who played his daughter and I especially enjoyed The Usual Suspects ending.

To pull off playing a sword fighting Spaniard with a thick Scottish accent in Highlander, and steal the whole movie, is something only Sean Connery could do.

He was some man for one man.

Watched 'Doctor Sleep' last night, didn't expect much, but really liked it.
Slow burn, Ewan McGregor with an understated performance as the grown up version of Danny, the kid from 'The Shining'.
They even get back to 'The Overlook' in it, and in a way that didn't feel crowbarred in.
Thought Rebecca Ferguson was pretty sexy in the hat, leading the child killing shine eaters.
      Worth a look imho.

Watched a stone-cold classic from 1971 that I'd never seen before. The French Connection. Gene Hackman and Roy Schneider - perfect!

      Great film!

Speaking of old classics, I watched Once upon a time in the west again the other day. In the top 3 of all time westerns for me. Quality!
