Gonna have to wait a couple of years though ;)

It'd be far more satisfying to go to Australia and defend it successfully.

I tell you why? Because it was something ludicrous like 5-0 before wasnt it?

Aye it was a whitewash last time and we were utter sh*te.

Next time will be different though.

Ponting will be gone by then too i think.

      He'll be 38 i think he said.

I will not be able to handle it if he went out without winning an Ashes campaign as skipper.

I'll hold my hands up and admit the bloke is one of the best cricketers ever, i think this is his last Ashes though.

Question is who'll replace him as captain?

      Hussey?

HUSSEY?! If you lived here you'd be shot for even suggesting it :D But i'm nice so i'll let you off ;) Relentless slagging from media and fans alike towards Huss but today he was a fighter and finally got his eye in.

It'll be Pup Clarke - he's the Aussie Cricket Board's beloved. He's been groomed since the get go to be Aussie captain and if he doesnt get it, i reckon i might have a chance of making the side.

Actually yeah since Clarke is Vice Captain it does kinda make sense for him to step up and get it.

Ponting actually has the class to let the boos roll off his back, nice to see an Aussie actually compliment the England side and be gracious in defeat.

      Classy bloke.

      Classy bloke.

He sticks up for his team first and foremost but is always the first person to congratulate that opponent.

      W...w...we...well played England.

      I cannot bare the presentation.

Well done England and (nearly) well done the Aussies - you made that a cracking day's play.

On the subject of the Australian captaincy, I think Ponting will still be there next series, and Clarke has been being groomed for the role for quite a while now.

Dunno whether or not Lee will be around next series - how old is he?  You definitely need to find a good, dedicated spinner - part timers will not do it.  You also need to get Johnson a lot more consistency (not everywhere uses the Kookaburra).  Hilfenhaus, Siddle and Clark will progress and get better, as will North who showed a lot of potential.

If we can keep KP fit, bring on Trott, Rashid, Denly and a few youngsters who are knocking on the test door, it should bode well for 2010-11.  We'll see you there when you get your chance to win the urn back.

Bring on the Twenty20 and ODIs now.

Fantastic result !! always brings great sporting moment when ever we play the Aussies, Broad's bowling spell in the first innings did the job and sheer determination and grit finished it ....love to beat the Aussies ( we don't do it often enough ) and i'm sure this will only fire them up for the next series ,Ricky Ponting should go down as one of the best ever test captains and Australian test cricketer .

What a great test match and well done to Australia for taking defeat with dignity.

If only all test series could be played with the spirit these 2 teams did it would make the game a lot better and exciting.

Well done England and unlucky Australia
