Good result this, obviously, but the test will be if we can avoid getting beat down under.

      Congratsafuckulations.

Can't believe it although I knew it was coming.

I blame myself ...went out for a spliff @ 0-86 come back in and it's 2-90.

Went to bed at 2-185 (early morning work) and woke up to be all out  :( and Ashes lost.  >:(

Oh well see you in 18 months downunder for another 5-0 Aussie whitewash  ;)

Can we lock this now  :P

      Good little Ashes that was.

When Anderson and Monty saved that first test I knew we would land it.  I can't remember seeing such a sh*te Aussie side in my adult life.  Where are all these world class bowlers from your famous Aussie sport institutions?

Anyway, been a while now since either side won this 'away from home' so hopefully we can give the Aussies a better competition in two years time.  Surprised that Hussey isn't more widely respected in Australia. I'm pretty sure he has got the best batting record in test matches of any player in the world at present.

Anyway the only shame for today was that it wasn't clinched with a hat-trick ball. ;)

His average went from 80 in his first 2 seasons but has dropped to around 30 in the past 2 - he's just been terrible. I think hes dropped to 24th best batter in the world in tests, quite a drop.

I hope the selectors lay blame, not Ricky because he played his heart out.

Our world class talent has disappeared - we only have Clarke and Punter who can claim the said tag. Warne and McGrath were the biggest losses but Stuart Clark stepped into McGrath's shoes with aplomb although his elbow injury has really set him back.

I hope Nathan Hauritz is our full time spinner - he's the best of a bad lot but he can do the job. North did himself proud but i'd rather our number 5 concentrate on batting, not bowling.

We lost this test as soon as we lost the toss, with the side we chose we had to bat first and Strauss got the better end of it.

Oh well, this just keeps that Ashes spirit burning and with each nation winning 2 out of the last 4, it'll lead to a bigger and better Ashes down here.

Hussey has been very well respected in Australia, but a bad run of form and the media turn very quickly. Good to see him knock up a ton despite the result. Disappointed with the result, but sets up a good series back home next summer. Maybe another 5-0 spanking ;)
Agree with you though JD. As soon as your bowlers decided to stick the bat down at the end of the first test and save it, i had a bad feeling. We should have won that, but after not coming through we showed weakness and you pounced, fair play.

Absolutely gutted! I hate having to hand the coveted urn back.

As much as it pains me to say, Well done to England. A great result and well led by Strauss.
Ponting on the other hand, does not instil me with much confidence as captain. Yes, he is a great cricketer, but I miss the steely like captaincy of Steve Waugh. Ricky's body language always worries me as he continually looks unsure and nervous.
Our bowling stocks didn't always do the job. Clark should have been included earlier in the series and Brett Lee certainly had something to offer, but wasn't given a chance.

Yeah all the Aussies on here are quality contributers and there are alot of quality players in your side but us poms gave yous a beating.

I'm off to put the kettle on yeah. :f_tongueincheek:

Still respected over in my neck of the woods.

But in all seriousness well played England and enjoy the Ashes for the next 18 months until you come down here and lose 5-0. ;)
