Defo Carra & Danny.Martin for me is a great tackler,but seems to lack awarness of whats going on around him.Gets caught out too easily.Saying that they Agger/Skyrtel haven't really had much playing time together due to the injuries to both players.

I voted Carra and Agger yonks ago when this topic was first around, I haven't changed my mind since then.

Carra and Agger right now (when fully fit), Agger and Skrtel for the future.

Agger would be first on my list, then Carra.  Skrtel has been poor for much of the season, almost like he doesn't seem to have fully recovered from his broken jaw.

I'd look at Ayala and Kelly for the future as well.  Think we might have ourselves two gems there.

I guess you would have to say Agger and Carra just because Srktel has looked so poor. Don't mind the Greek fella but not up to the same standard. Kelly looked good against Lyon, would love to see him get a few more run outs before the end of the season

Who do you thnk should be Carra's regular partener in defence, Skrtel or Agger. For me it's definatly Agger, for Roy it looks like it's Skrtel. What do you think

I agree with you, Agger any day. I think that he's more demanding than Skrtel, and it always strikes me that Skrtel seems to have the odd "oh my f*cking god!!" moment in a game

Agger for the quality, Carra for the leadership.  Swap Kyrgiakos in when we need a stronger CB with a better aerial presence to counter teams like Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves, Stoke etc

From the looks of it, Woy prefers a CB pairing (as opposed to 2 individual CBs).  That means they work as a unit instead of having individual responsibilities.

Old system:

Agger swept up balls that the slower CB (Carra in the past) missed.  He played his way out of trouble, he hung back while Carra closed down.  Carra closed down, provided the physical presence and layed the ball off for more creative players and was more of a threat aerially.  Carra was always the leader out of the two.  Zonal marking was more suited to Agger.

New system:

Carra is still the leader, both players work together to ensure nothing gets past.  No longer does on CB have one role and the other have a different role - they work as a team to clear the ball upfield and regroup.  We rely on a more physical presence at the back and man mark accordingly.  Man marking better suited to Skrtel.

We have Carragher who is a gives 150% commitment and is the soul of the club. Reads the game well and always goes in for the tackel.

We have Skrtel who doesn't look the same player after his head injury but was usually solid.

We have Agger who is probably one of the coolest defenders with the ball. Has a wicked left foot on him and also a pretty good ball playing defender.

We have Kyrgiakos who usually wins all the aeriel battles but lack pace.

I really don't know who to play. My heart keeps telling me Carragher and Agger, though.

Don't need any centre backs, just let Reina save everything and throw more players up-front.

Skrtel has gone backwards. I had hoped at this stage he'd be a beast. He isnt

Well it makes sense now as to why hes not
