Could this be reading too much into things, Ribery gets a knee injury on the very day his odds get slashed on a move to Anfield ?, maybe there is a little bit more to this than we all think, maybe its just misplaced optimism whats your thoughts could Rafa be trying to tie up a deal and Munich are putting the injury story out so the player is not risked ensuring it wont scupper any potential transfer ?, whats your thoughts ?, is this one conspiracy theory too far ?

      http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=660050&cc=5739

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery will miss Friday night's first pre-season friendly against Salzburg with a knee injury.

The 26-year-old France international, heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria this summer, sat out training on Thursday and is not expected to resume until early next week.

Team-mate Philipp Lahm told L'Equipe: "I cannot say yet whether he will be with us this season.

"But, as long as he is, he must integrate into the squad because the team is the most important thing. He has given his all in recent days and left a good impression."

The match, Bayern's first under new coach Louis van Gaal, could see Germany striker Mario Gomez make his first appearance in the club's colours on his 24th birthday.

As good-a player as he is, I would be unable to see past the fact that he is French

What kind of a comment is that?

Maybe gillett wants to prove his worth to the liverpool fans by giving the money from selling his canadian club for the transfer for frank. Could happen tho.

Some crazy stuff happening in this thread.

Anti-Frenchness and libellous statements about Ribery being Al Pacino. (I did get your explanation by the way.)

I don't think joking about the fella's scar is appropriate considering the circumstances he suffered the injury....

      THE INSIDER: Ribery to Liverpool

      Link to the Daily Mail

      Franck Ribery
Bayern Munich to Liverpool - The Insider says: 1/5

I swear 1/5 meant that if we were to bet a fiver, we'd get an extra 1 quid? I'm not a betting man, so I don't know.

The article suggests it's impossible. I'd love this deal to go through. Ribery is quality.

Was suggesting to you that you could use NGog against the xenophobe as an example of a Frenchman who already plays for us.
Probably should have answered him, couldn`t be bothered going back to find his original post.

The 1/5 is one out of five probability.

"The Insider" reckons it's not very likely at all.

It's gone a bit quieter now around the Ribery situation, and usually Rafa likes to do things on the quiet, so maybe he's in talks right now?
I know its probably empty optimism but oh well
also, you know everyone's like "we can't afford him" we spend a fair few million on players (N'gog £3.5 mill? Riera £7mill? Dossena £6mill? apart from Robbie Keane last year and we lost £8million on him because we were so desperate to lose him. When we signed him, no-one thought we had any money, but we found £20 odd million. so on those four players this time last year we spent £36.5 million
And this year pompey still owed us for crouch so i believe we only paid up to 7 mill?
so we should still see £30 odd million pounds worth of transfers if we are running similarly to last year, which we are, but just a little bit better as we've "sorted" our debts for now, so who knows eh?

As far as I can remember the "Insider" has a very low sucess rate at telling the future.NO????
