Would be great to read a positive Liverpool story. Too much negativity around at the moment. Its been a draining season apart from the youth teams. In saying that since the loan deals were done the reserves have been more about player development. Would be a great boost for them to win with such a young team

AC Milan agony for scorer Amoo
      23rd May 2010 - Latest News

Liverpool Reserves crashed out of the RUHR.2010 Cup after AC Milan scored three minutes into injury-time to salvage a 1-1 draw.

The leveller proved to be the last kick of the game following a fine solo effort from David Amoo.

Incredibly the result meant Liverpool, Milan, Schalke and Bayern Munich all finished on four points and with a goal difference of zero.

However, Schalke and Milan progress having scored more goals throughout the group stages.

Manager John McMahon said: "Milan needed a draw and that's what they played for. We dominated the game but failed to kill them off. Perhaps there was a bit of naivety.

"There are long-term positives we can take and that's what we're all about. These young lads have learnt that they need to kill games off and that they need to be a bit cleverer in certain stages of the game.

"It's really frustrating but I've spoken to people who felt we were the best team in the tournament."

The squad flies back from Germany on Monday before enjoying an end-of-season meal on Tuesday night.

Again with the extra time goals. Heartbreaking. Out on goal difference. Hopefully when Ince and a few others step up we can turn that around

The future really is looking good for us with this crop of youngsters and those following on in the Academy.  Even if not all of them make it as regular 1st teamers it's the competition for places that's important, something which was sadly missing last season.

Don't think so Crouchy it's been hard enough finding the reports.  Unless they're showing them on LFC tv at some stage but I haven't seen anything.

Your right. Searched everywhere for even a snippet of any game and nothing doing.

Hopefully some sort of review when the competition is finished.

Good to see there are plans to promote some of our young stars from the Academy next season.

      McMahon ready for fresh faces
      30th May 2010 - Latest News

Reserves boss John McMahon admits he is relishing the prospect of having Academy star Tom Ince at his disposal next season.

The livewire winger, who was in scintillating form for Rodolfo Borrell's U18s side throughout 2009-10, could make the step up to the Reds second string in the new campaign - and McMahon is confident Ince has a bright future ahead of him.

"Ince might be one of the lads who make the progression into the Reserves," McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"He's been terrific for the U18s and scored lots of goals. He is developing all the time and looks a good prospect."

McMahon believes the arrival of new faces into his squad from the Academy can provide his charges with fresh impetus.

As well as Ince, the Reserves boss expects to see youngsters Conor Coady, Jack Robinson and John Flanagan feature more regularly for his side in 2010-11 after the trio all turned out for the second string last term.

He added: "You might see a bit more of the likes of Conor Coady and Jack Robinson, as well as John Flanagan who has stepped up, done really well and made a positive impression.

"The enthusiasm (of new Academy graduates) is good. It gives us more bodies and another challenge to see how they fit in and go on to progress. It always freshens things up.

"It's good for them to make the step up and it's good for us to get fresh faces and see how they react to what we're trying to teach them."

It'll do the regular Reserves good to have some competition for their places too mate.

Think they will fit in well into the squad. Hope we get to see a midfield with Coady and Puso. Looking forward seeing how the all step up and adapt to the higher level. Obviously it would be great for us he Ince did the job in reserves and got some games for the first team be it in the cups or the europa league

I think most of our new faces in the 1st team will be from the Reserves and Academy next season and it will be very interesting to watch.
