      Battlefield 1943
      Jul 12, 2009 01:01:40 pm
After my 30 minute demo I've taken the plunge and invested £9.99 in this game via the PSN store.

I quite enjoyed Warhawk and this seems to be more of the same - except with the option of getting boats!

Cracking little game IMO. Anyone else got it yet?

I haven't, might take a look at that actually. Only £9.99? Has it been out a while?

No, it came out Thursday. You can download the demo although you are limited to a total of 30 minutes after which you just pay £9.99 if you want the game.

Which I did.  I've taken three people out by running them over with an aggresive boat landing.

Definitely worth the money. A tenner is a bargain, it's a cracking game.  There's more free DLC to come, as well.

Not sure if it's better than Battlefield 2 or 2142, but still a brilliant little game.

      Nice.

I can't figure out how to fly the planes.

I thought I was getting the general hang of it, until the water started coming in. :( Arses.

Play the tutorial to get used to them. I got about 50 suicides when I started, but you get used to it and it becomes fairly simple. The tutorial doesn't let you practise dogfights, though.

Yeah it is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, same price.

I am really enjoying the game but It does have 1 downfall, which is the Re-Spawn locations, why do I always re-spawn next to an enemy.

Pretty tough things to fly in all honesty. It's not what you'd expect, i.e. down on the stick to fly higher, up to fly lower.

But yeah they are pretty pointless, and if you crash it's a -10 on your score. Pretty harsh.

Planes are horrible, and when someone is following you shooting you in a plane, there really is nothing you can do, as the planes aren't very agile to evade them, and the turn radius is so big you can't turn back on them. You can have a pretty torrid time with them. I've found that the Japanese planes are better than the yanks.

They should've made 2 slots for the plane, 1 as a gunner.

Know what you mean about the planes being chased, but you can get out of trouble.

I did a boss Top Gun turn the other day and ended up blowing up the plane that had been following me.

I've had a couple of go's of Air Superiority and I'm a lot better with the planes now. Some people on that game are complete tools.

I had one fella drive the boat and landed us absolutely nowhere near a flag.  We were both running up this road for ages - I kept turning round and taking a shot at him (not that it does anything). Complete dick.

Would be good if we could get a full team of us.

It is a cracking game, but I'm not sure if its better than Warhawk or not. Might have to have another crack on Warhawk to check. (Although it is much easier to sort the online friends out).

Not sure about being kept apart.

But what we did learn was that triallist couldn't join paying members squad games.  For instance I can go in and join someone on my friends list. Trialists can't do that.

Every single level, I have found a sniper spot that I can get at least 10 kills from.

One in Guadalcanal overlooks the hill fort, and the adjacent base. One in Iwo Jima overlooks 60% of the whole map. One in Wake Island overlooks roughly 40% of the map, but covers the majority of the main base.

Some good stuff going on here chaps ;)

Got a brilliant score today - 18 kills, 7 deaths, 440 points on Gualdalcanal!

I was laughing, it was so easy!

Gone a bit quiet in this thread.

No doubt because me and Res are the Kings of the game. Never mind - at least some of you had a go.

      BUMP!!

      Started playing this again.

Took me about 2 minutes to get used to the controls once more.

Highest score is 250 since the restart.

It's good like but MW2 quenches my thirst for bloodshed. :D

Have there been any updates since we last played? I remember a promise or two of new levels?

Nada mate, just plain old BF1943.

Which is much better than MW2, by the way ;)

Battlefield in general is better than CoD!

Had a good few rounds on this with JD the other night, good times.

Will be on again from 2200 hours if anyone fancies a few games.

      Not having that.

Haven't played BFBC2 yet but I hear good things.

Can you fly the planes properly on BF1943 yet? :D
