I think we should accept £22m plus Sneijder and then we have alonso's replacement solved (i know he isn't as good with his passing but nobody in the world is and Sneijder is still one of the best centre midfielders). Then try and get Silva for £22m and maybe the odd million on top.

Aquilani 'sacrificed' to Liverpool Saturday 18 July, 2009

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alberto Aquilani looks set to be the sacrificial lamb in Roma’s transfer campaign, as talks continue with Liverpool over a £22m move.

Earlier this month Coach Luciano Spalletti confirmed his club needed to sell someone – preferably from midfield, where there is an abundance of players – to raise money for the transfer kitty.

Despite penning a new contract in June, Aquilani is set to be that figure, as he would receive the most money on the market.

Liverpool have made an offer of £18m, but the Giallorossi are holding out for £22m and negotiations are set to continue.

Rafa Benitez has picked the Italian as the ideal replacement for Xabi Alonso should the £30m sale to Real Madrid go through.

“We will certainly evaluate any firm offers that come in for Aquilani and consider them carefully,” added Spalletti from Roma’s pre-season training camp.

Aquilani is considered one of the talents on the Italy scene, but has been plagued by injuries and is still recovering from ankle surgery.

We won't pay 22m for Aquilani, I don't think Rafa is that stupid. Would rather just take sneijder.

I would love to see Aquilani join but not at that price i think £15-£18m is the most i'd pay for him

When you consider we could perhaps sign Sneijder and/or David Silva instead of spending all the money on Aquilani

The most i would pay is £15m just because if we spend any more on him then we will be struggling to fund a move for Silva. We would be relying on selling dead wood and even then those players are still needed here at Liverpool to give us the depth required to compete in all competitions.

Voronin Part Of Deal For Aquilani?
Channel 4’s Football Italia tell us, that Serie A outfit Roma are ‘stepping up their hunt” for a forward and suggest Liverpool striker Andrei Voronin “could be part” of a deal for Alberto Aquilani.

Football Italia claiming, that it is “well known” the Reds are in “contact” with the Giallorossi regarding the transfer of Aquilani from the Stadio Olimpico to Anfield. However, the Italian side have slapped an “£18million” valuation on the Italian International.

It said, that should a deal for Aquilani not “go through” then Roma are hoping to “make the most of negotiations” to try and prise Voronin away from Merseyside to the Italian capital.

Despite an impressive stint on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin last term Voronin has apparently found “no room” in Rafa Benitez’s squad, with the Ukranian on the “wish list” of the Giallorossi, according to Corriere dello Sport.

However, Football Italia concludes by saying Voronin’s present salary of around “£2million-a-year” at the Premiership side could prove to be an “obstacle” in the deal.

2 mill a year for Voronin? That's like 40,000 a week, no wonder Masch wants to leave seeing as he only get 25,000  a week, imagine being a sought after CM and getting less than F***ing Voronin!

Aye aye, Voronin salary is just bullshit, considering he has never performed well for Liverpool why not RAFA just sell him and save up on paying on his salary. The whole world is going bollocks i say :lmao:

Aquallini isnt he an attacking midfielder i think if we need a replacement for alonso they have to be able to make the passes from the back and sit in front of the defence by masch's side and i cant see him doing that

Well surely it wouldn't be bad to have someone quite attacking, Masch is the holding midfielder, he sits back and controls form the center meaning the other center midfielder can push up a bit, otherwise we'll leave a massive gap behind Nando and Gerrard, meaning we won't have anyone attacking from the middle and ready to stop the counter from the off.

Dont Get me Wrong i would love to have him at the club But i think if we lost Alonso we would need to get a play maker your right but aquallini is not a play maker.

No problem, out of the 3 that we have been most linked with (Lavezzi, Aquilani and him) he seems like he would fit the best.

Sorry have to disagree with you there. Lavezzi is my favorite he got pace and flare he loves to attack players i think we should try to sign him.
He is a player who could turn a game in an instant with a mad run or shot.
