In all honesty you could pull all 7 reasons apart with facts, scientific evidence and common sense.

The Super Volacno Theory for instance, the last super volcano to erupt was Mount Toba on the island of Sumatra 74000 years ago. The explosion was so great that the Volcano imploded and created a bowl that is now known as Lake Toba. The proposed theory was that the the Volacano erupted with such force that it threw ash into the atmosphere blocking sunlight coolling global temperatures and creating a 6 year global winter that basically crippled the human population down to the very last 15,000 world wide.

How ever it is now argued that this was not the case, yes the human race was affected but no where near on the global scale that was speculated. An archeologist team found stone tolos through various layers of Toba volcanic ash that suggests rather than being allmost drove to extinction the humans at the time seemed to persist through the eruption and its after effects.

Now if you think about how far we have come in a technological sense from the stone tool humans of 74000 years ago to what we are in 2009 there is no reason at all to suggest a super volcano could cause the end of the world or the extinction of the human race.

IMO its not going to be the end of the world. Others and not just the Mayas made predictions for the end of the world. Those predictions failed to be true and life carried on as normal. Mayas were excellent when viewing the seasons and could predict eclipses because of what had happened in the past but had no way of predicting the future. WE WILL STILL BE HERE 2012 ONWARDS!

      Why 2012 is a myth.?
Ok its time to debunk this myth. Ill get right to the point.

Its not a doomsday prediction, its been twisted all out of proportion. The Long Count calendar is going from 12 Baktuns to 13 Baktuns, like when ours went from 1999 to 2000

There is what’s been called a galactic alignment, that day when the rising sun conjuncts the Milky Way. According to the Mayans, that means it’s being reborn. It’s an energetic shift.

The Mayan calendar doesn’t end on 12-21-2012. The Long Count calendar rolls from Baktun 12 to Baktun 13 on that date, but that’s not an end. It can go up to Baktun 19, and even then (in the year 4770+), it doesn’t end, it goes to Pictun 1 (! Pictun=20 Baktuns. 1 Baktun=~400 years)

As far as the galactic alignment causing a pole shift, that was supposed to happen with the alignment of 05-05-2000, when all the planets were in a line on the other side of the sun from Earth, and it didn’t.
      Additional Details
This 12-21-2012 alignment is purely visual–the sun crossing the center of the milky way at dawn–no gravitation pull or anything that would make the poles shift.

As far as the Mayan knowing “everything” about astrology, that is not exactly true. And the Long Count is not an astrological calendar.

The sacred 260-day calendar (The Tzolkin) is the astrological one, and that never ends, just runs in an endless loop.

The calendar was a celebration NOT a dooms day prophecy. Also this whole thing is a cash cow and do your reasearch on the History Channels ratings since that and you will see it has all went down hill.

To ease your mind go to NASA. Type in Planet X and then type in Nibiru in the ask a scientist section. Nothing like that is going to happen now or in the near future.

Nibiru or Planet-X is fake, we found a 10th planet Xena and its just bigger than the U.S. o be technical the only thing doomsday coming would be the asteroid in 2880 but NASA knows we can control it.

I was slightly nervous about 2000

I am not even remotely nervous about 2012

Hell, if it ends...it ends....just make sure I don't know about it. I would rather it just happen quickly

At least Sky 'News' will finally have a breaking news story that doesn't go on for 12 hours after it first breaks.

      I don't care if the world ends in 2012. It's sh*te anyway.

Maybe that's when Gerrard retires. ;)

The only reason I would even think about believing that it may happen is because a lot of things have gone to hell over the last few years. For example...
We are running out of petrol fast
A lot more plane crashes have been happening over the last few months
       The global economy has imploded
3rd world countries are running out of food faster than in the past
Man U has won the last 3 titles

Iknow a lot about this , and i know its rubbish
they quote the mians a lot, and their calender ends, it does so because they had maths all sussed out, and htey knew, when the glaxy shifts, and in what direction, so they based their time on it, intelligent, but hardly makes any difference, just like when we go round the sun once a year.

So it's an over complicated calender Robby? sounds like Jehova's Witnesses telling us they're right and the world IS going to end - the word inevitable springs to mind.
