Exactly. If Lewis had come in, Red Bull would have kept Max out. Max would be leading and on much fresher hard tyres than Lewis was on at the time. Why the hell would anyone do that especially with the high likelihood that at that late stage, the assumption was that it would end under the safety car. Mercedes did the right thing in keeping him out. This notion that the cock up lies with Merc on a strategy front is f**king desperate.

Well whose fault was it that Hamilton was left out there on 40 lap old tyres? Because it  wasn't Masi to blame for that. If you look back on the season, you would struggle to find a case where Red Bull got their strategy wrong, whereas there are many cases of Mercedes errors throughout the season, not just the last race.

I am not a Max supporter LOL

      I wanted Lewis to win.

I mentioned Silverstone as that's where there was the biggest points difference between the two due to an incident. Max is no saint and I think last couple races he was too aggressive. But he was the better driver over the course of the season, so the anger should be towards the FIA not Max or Max fans.

He won the title by every possible measurement. Most poles, most podiums, most race wins, most sprint wins, most laps lead, most points. So anyone who says that he didn't fully deserve it, is not telling the truth. But if that's how they cope with it, that's fine.

A one lap race in Abu dabi and a  2 lap race in Spa. Yes Max was clearly the winner without any assistance from on high

Or the last 2 laps at Silverstone and Sochi, which other drivers should have won but didn't. Norris has not recovered yet from losing his 20 second lead with 3 laps to go, only to finish 6th.

It was the best season since 1997, and it was fitting that the battle for the title went all the way to the wire. It was headline news across the world, it was tv ratings gold. People will talk about the last lap in 50 years time. After 10 years of championships completely dominated by one team/driver, races are suddenly essential viewing once again.

I’m not passionate about F1 but I watched the final race and it’s actually put me off watching it again.
There was no sporting integrity at all.
It would be like the season Liverpool were miles ahead and covid halted everything and the premier league saying “listen, we are going to have a penalty shoot out between you and Man City to determine the league winners but it will be next January when your best players are in AFCON.”

I might watch F1 again. But it felt like WWE last season.

The thing I'd most like to see this coming season is McLaren making the most of the new regulations and getting right in the mix for the title race with Lando.

While the usual sc protocols were not followed at the last race to the letter, the race director is the one who has ultimate responsibility for the use of the sc, so legally that's the end of the discussion.

Hamilton hasn't been seen or heard of since the last race. Of course he will get back in the car and get on with fulfilling his obligations next season, when he's finished feeling sorry for himself. Of all the wins he's had over the years, he's enjoyed his fair share of luck with safety cars, virtual safety cars and race strategies, on the rare days when he hasn't waltzed off into the distance. At one race last year, a VSC was deployed just as he was approaching the pit lane for a stop, and was withdrawn as soon as he rejoined the track. Needless to say, he won the race, and nobody protested the result. At the last race, the sc variable went against him. So he had one lap to defend two corners to retain his title, and couldn't do it. That was not Verstappen's fault.

No it was the race director's trying to make controversy and some sort of drama where there shouldn't be any, conveniently when that all or nothing documentary was covering the race.

Great insight into the shenanigans of us having a false world champion going into the 2022 season when you have a spare 80 mins.
