Alonso wringing the maximum from that car again judging by the radio.

      Great stuff.

Looking like Ferrari are going to need Lewis to retire the car to have any chance of a win this weekend.

Looks like it. If Lewis can get Bottas alongside him on the grid (presuming he starts pole) then that will be a great day for him and his chances tomorrow.

This was an awesome track before the new aggressive downforce regulations but it looks even more beastly when driven by these cars. Love that s complex in the first sector. Reminds me of Becketts complex at Silverstone.

Probably the best new track produced since all these new venues came onto the calendar

Wow - supreme effort by Vettel to split the Mercs. Much closer to Hamilton than I imagined as well. Toto and co might be a wee bit disappointed with that. Given the way race pace has panned out this year I half expect Seb to be the quicker driver in the race.

The speed through those s bends is something to behold.

Seb will be looking to get some sort of advantage up that hill into turn one to have any hope tomorrow.

It'll be fascinating to see how it pans out. I think Seb will have the race pace to win tomorrow and might not have to take Hamilton immediately. That said, Lewis has defended the lead well despite having the slower car than the man behind him on a few occasions this year - Belgium being a prime example!

Bottas is a fine talent but he's taken a long time to get that car up and running. Hamilton is flying - really thought Seb would control this race confortably once he took the lead at the start.

      He's been great.

Looking like were going to get a good end to this race especially for the other two podium spots.

F**k me. What a drive by Verstappen. That had me breathless! Lost for words for this extreme talent.

Lewis utterly peerless. Surely number 4 for him now.

Another great race at Austin. Phenomenal circuit and great Sunday night entertainment!

      Great race.

I have to say I was desperately wanting Kimi to hold on - always good to see him on the podium but I can't deny Max that.

No wait - he's been penalised. Thought it would be allowed - shame that. Have to see that again.

But hey - Kimis on the podium!

I'll just say that the stewards have been lenient on Vettel's touches on Verstappen and Hamilton who is now stone dead last because of a puncture caused by Vettel. Vettel not fairing much better having to pit for a new wing. If that's a Haas it's a penalty I think. Still on course to win the title is Lewis because Vettel's not doing the business. Needs second place at least to keep the title alive.

These Renault engines are not cut out for this altitude it seems. Ricciardo, Hulkenberg and now Hartley have retired. Wee bit worried about Verstappen's engine at this rate!
