On his day and during the peak McLaren Mercedes years, David Coulthard really was a superb driver.

Pole position for Seb Vettel in Baku. No sign of a let up from Ferrari at the moment! Since that F**k up by Mercedes during the VSC in Melbourne Vettel has just run with this and is making the Mercs pay! Hoping for a great duel between Lewis and Seb tomorrow though!

Nice one Grosjean. Prepping for an amazing end after the safety car after the mad Red Bull crash and he bins it in the wall at slow speed conditions.

Grosjean. Always Romain f**king Grosjean ready to spoil the party. Failing that he'll moan to the pit wall and/or race control of someone dares to show up his calamity. What a f**king moron.

      Enjoyed that.

Baku is proving to be possibly the most unpredictable track on the calender.

Yeah - cruel on Bottas who was the match of Lewis throughout most the weekend.

A bit lucky to say the least for Lewis but he'll take it after losing the Aussie GP in unfortunate in unfortunate circumstances!

Surprising to see Ricciardo involved in a smash like that. Fair play to the Red Bull's though - they set up a great end (one I didn't think we were going to get after that moron Grosjean)

Totally agree. No better underlined by Kimi and Alonso getting a podium and decent points respectively after both had first lap crashes and had to trundle back to the pit!

Great drive from LeClerc yesterday in the Sauber.

Also McLaren aren't showing much in quali but keep ticking over in the points on race day.

Baku is proving to be possibly the most unpredictable track on the calendar.

It's a great, traditional street circuit layout  with character, a combination of Macau and Adelaide. They're not on the calendar, and there's now rumours Baku could be removed from the calendar too. I presume it's not making much money, given it's location and relatively low attendances. The narrow chicane at the castle is my favourite corner, as you're just millimetres from the barrier while going through it. There's not many street circuits like it nowadays, where one mistake and your race is over. I think fans want that element back in the sport.

That used to apply in Barcelona. Now it's like practically every other circuit, where running wide and going off means you just carry on.

Superb effort by Hamilton to get pole today but Bottas is really keeping him honest this year. Shaping up to be another close one with Vettel not far behind in third. Also just comparing pole laps in recent years at the Circuit De Catalunya and the reduction in time has been rapid!

2014 Pole position lap in Spain: 1.25.232 (by Lewis Hamilton/First year of the hybrid era under previous far less aggressive aero rules)

      ....

2017 Pole position lap in Spain: 1.19.149 (Lewis Hamilton)
2018 Pole position lap in Spain: 1.16.173 (Lewis Hamilton)

NINE seconds gained between 2014 and today's qualifying factoring in the rapid development of the hybrid units, the overhaul of aero rules in 2017 with 3 of those seconds coming in the last 12 months thanks to a newly relaid track at the Circuit De Catalunya and the further development of the new aero regulations that were introduced last season. 2014's times pretty much a lower formula in comparison.

He could cause mayhem in a solo, such a bad driver I'd put him on a assessment course to re sit his F1 licence.
