We grew up with the likes of BBC providing free coverage.
Little did we realise it was a golden era.

Was it the golden era, or was it introducing us to car racing, having it for 'free' was great, you could follow the season with ease, advertisers got free advertising, tobacco included, brands were well known, and the liveries, some of the best ever were iconic, as they were based on the brand.
Now with pay TV, and a more global based sport, the TV companies want a closed shop, If you can't pay, you won't see the race.
advertisers are paying for what, for a very small band off followers in the UK, I don't know what the rest of the world is like, but I suspect in the near future, there will not be the following F1 has now in the UK. More than half of the brands advertising I have never heard of.

The Americans are very savvy, hopfully profits and interest will fall, and they will make it available to all again, look at Cricket, who cares any more? I don't even know when the last Ashes were, and who won, a guess it was Australia, 50/50 chance of being right.

Golden era then for viewers, I guess yes, but now it's the money makers golden era.

The yellow accent looks much better.
      No real change this year.
I like the cleaner front wing and they've gone the same way as Williams and copied the "Ferrari" raised sidepod inlets.

Yea, both the Renault  and Torro Rosso pretty much identical to last season which isn't such a bad thing as both for me we're two of the better looking cars.

STR & Renault easily the best so far, even with the same liveries.

      Rokit are a Telecoms company.

I read Claire Williams talking about a bold decision to change colours but isn't that just more due to them losing Martini as a title sponsor or have I got that wrong?

Definitely Renault's strongest driving partnership since the days of Alonso and Fisichella. With Ricciardo leading the way and Hulk as an excellent second driver then they can only go up from here surely. Long term it will be fascinating to see if they can force their way back to the front.

Red Bull could be under pressure if Honda doesn’t deliver

Very good point! Completely forgot about the Honda switch by Red Bull. Honda proved they weren't as bad as people made them out to be when they were in the back of the Toro Rosso's last season but I can't help but think people were all of a sudden overhyping them because they were going to be Red Bull's partners this year. All that overhype, admittedly, comes from Christian Horner who is the master at bigging up things in his textbook clean orporate speak. But it would be wonderful if they got usurped by Renault soon.

But then again, I've never been Red Bull's biggest fan - too much of a 'presentation' and 'sheen' to them, even going as far to plastering their drivers helmets with the Red Bull logo to the point where who is driving which car becomes indistinguisable (in general the helmet art game is utterly atrocious these days but they are the worst offenders). For sure, this is the way F1 has gone in the last 20 years or so, especially with the gradual disappearance of the piranha club, but it still irks me the way Red Bull go about their business.

I'd be seriously worried about Ferrari's long term future in the sport if they ever did that! Would be cool to see them try it out for a testing livery maybe once but I'm with the Ferrari conservatives on this one. Ferrari red all the way!

      Indeed.

I still have a feeling Red Bull will be fine with the Honda but not sure they'll close the gap enough to really compete for the championship.

Being fine won't be enough if Renault have made a significant step,
especially as Renault arguably have a stronger driver line up.

This new mob are just looking to ring as much money out of F1 regardless of who they upset or the History of the Sport.
Can you even imagine dropping the British GP.
REally hoping Danny Ric gets ahead of RB and his old Pal Max. Can McLaren and Williams do anything this year I hope so

Much better options out there for the money that goes into it.
Le Mans and Moto GP we're cheaper and no lesser product.

I am a massive Le Mans fan and if F1 don't get their act together they could lose a lot of good will around the world and in F1 history does count for a lot.

They've already lost ground to Moto GP and will lose ground to the likes of Le Mans & Formula E.
Purists will easily get their fix from Moto GP & Le Mans.
Those who want a modern take might be drawn to Formula E.
Formula 1 seems caught between two stools.

Le Mans are already trying to  make it more competitive by changing the Prototype Cars . The on board Cameras are so much better

Thank F**k it doesn't have that little knob sticking out the end of its nose. Not much of a 'new' livery though. Crikey - given the way Mercedes were teasing its fans the last week or two you'd have thought it was going to be a complete overhaul. Nothing of the sort.

So much for the black camo car.
Reckoned that was a wind up when they had the wheels and all done.
Tidier than last season's, but then just about every launch has been tidied up versions of last year's,
With the exception of HAAS and Williams, who have new main sponsors.
