Solid race by Leclerc, worthy winner & a future word champion..

      Vettel is spent at Ferrari..

Solid race yes but should of received a penalty for blocking Hammy. However, getting a penalty round Monza for Ferrari is as likely as a Scouse referee giving a penalty when United are playing Liverpool at Anfield.  :lmao:

      Vettel..
How the mighty have fallen.  :-\ How does a driver deteriorate so much in the space of 6 months or so. Could Hammy one day be in a red car??

I bet Vettel is raging they weren't handing out black and white flags in Canada.

Feel a bit for Vettel. Another driver battered mentally by Hamilton.

Max & LeClerc leading out the next generation and you can see Hamilton getting prickly over it.
Hamilton piled the pressure on and boy did Charles have to earn that victory.

      No.

Ferrari were hit with the maximum penalty possible at Monza, for Vettel's unique attempt at navigating the Ascari chicane. I haven't seen anyone spin off there since Lap 1 in 1995, after another spin there by Coulthard on the Formation Lap minutes earlier.

It was a busy weekend for the marshalls at Monza, and Vettel got on his soapbox about safety in F1. Reminds me of what Jackie Stewart once said, "the safe driver is never the quick one". Since the Halo gimmick was put on the cars, there has been an overturned car on Lap 1 in Abu Dhabi, a fatality at a support race in Spa, the first on a race weekend in 25 years, and another driver from the same race critically ill in hospital. The gimmick not only looks awful, but it's one more obstacle to a driver getting away safely from a serious incident.

It's a year since Leclerc was announced as Raikkonen's replacement, and Vettel wasn't happy with it. Leclerc won the Italian GP, while Vettel and Raikkonen got severe penalties from the stewards and finished well outside the points. If Leclerc and/or Verstappen were given proper equipment over a season, we would have a proper contest for the title.

Trump, Brexit, climate change, Amazonian forest fires - there are many terrible and unforgivable things happening in the world at the moment but the one that tops all of that is the continued renewal of Romain Grosjeans's F1 career.

In all seriousness its an absolute farce that that guy continues to forge a career in this sport. A miserable driver who endangers those around him without ever taking responsibility for his own actions. Measly points this season and an all round dimwit.

And when you see someone like Hulkenberg struggling to get a drive along with the likes of Ocon pushed out of the sport at the end of last season you know this is a sport that isn't looking after itself.

At it again this weekend when he left the nose in and put Russell in the wall.
Must have some cash behind him because there is no other reason he should be in F1 ahead of Hulkenberg.

Probably taking it up the rectum by team principle is Grosjean 😂, jokes aside I think I could handle that F1 car & score more points than him..

A fine strategic win that by Mercedes and Lewis to get the win in Mexico.

A lot of talk though about the sheer inability for the cars to get close to each other today. Brundle on the commentary talking about how they really must work on this ahead of the regulation changes in 2021. But can they really do that?

I remember in 2009 there was a big overhaul in technical rules and while it brought about drastically different looking cars and moved about the natural order of the grid I don't recall it improving the racing much. I just feel there is too much data and too much aero knowledge these days for these wishes to come true.

He's been amazing. There are three men in the sport that have truly shaped and defined Formula One in the last 3 decades and one of them is Lewis (along with Senna and Schumacher).

It's just a crying shame that a minuscule proportion of the population was able to see it live unlike the time when he won it the first time round in 2008 (when 13m people watched).

Sky Sports had the cheek to host a twitter debate on Friday about why Lewis wasn't more respected and talked about in wider British public life. The fact that Sky (and the sport's ownership) have crow-barred the sport behind a highly expensive paywall was, unsurprisingly, completely lost on them and wasn't factored into the debate. That one of Britain's greatest ever sport stars these days can only perform his exploits to an exclusive band of his fellow countrymen and women is not befitting of his stature.

      HAMMER TIME 6 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Still in his prime he shows no signs of easing off the Pedel either. I've loved watching him for over ten years now and still get the same buzz now as I did then. Not sure he can beat Schumachers record but certainly equal it.

With all the changes coming are way it may get harder to win in the coming years.

Well done Hammy  :champ: :champ: :champ: :champ: :champ: :champ:

Massive achievement for Lewis Hamilton.  To maintain that desire and win again and again is something else - especially in that sport where every lap could be your last.

Echo the comments earlier about how pay TV has effectively taken the racing drivers off the radar a bit of the general public.

I didn't think Schumachar era dominace would ever be seen again, but here we are.
Hamilton heads into 2020 ready to match Schumacher's 7 titles & I wouldn't bet against him.

Greatest driver of his era without question.

Nothing to do with it. It's because he has no serious rivals, as he has the best car driving on sanitised race tracks. Therefore people are more bored than excited at his achievements. It was the same when Schumacher was cleaning up every record going, people didn't tune in to watch him do it, they switched off. And that wasn't on Sky.

By contrast, the best and most respected drivers are the ones who achieved their success in much more unreliable cars, on proper race tracks, against serious competition from rival teams. Legends like Prost and Senna got the best out of each other. Schumacher had several rivals from other teams to compete against. And if something went wrong on the track, chances are it would be serious. That's not the case now.

      Jules Bianchi & Anthoine Hubert..

The latter was not a F1 driver. The former was fatally injured by hitting a recovery truck.

There has been 1 fatality in the sport in 25 years. Back in the early years, Fangio still won 5 championships on tracks like the formidable Nurburgring, and a Spa circuit twice the size it is now, where barriers were of hay. Now if you go off the circuit, you usually just go back on again. Hamilton hasn't had a DNF all year, while Mercedes have won 6 straight championships. It doesn't matter what the sport is, if it becomes predictable, many who are not directly involved will lose interest and react to someone winning another world title with a shrug of the shoulders.

Ah. Still commited to the "there's not enough of them dying" take.
      Horrendous.

Ferrari had 9 poles this season and only won 3 races.
Shooting themselves in the foot has been F1's biggest problem this season.

Hamilton & Mercedes have raised their game to meet the challenge of Ferrari & arguably had their best season as a result.

Red Bull seem revitalised with Honda finally getting the results now that they have 2 teams to gather data from.

Pity Ferrari's loophole has been closed, as it might mean 2020 doesn't build to the season it could have been,
but I expect us to see better, closer, racing in 2021 when the new rules undo some of the damage caused by chasing ultimate laptimes over improving racing.
