Lap 33: Raikkonen and Alonso both pit for dry tyres allowing Massa to close right up on Alonso. The Championship has taken a twist...

Lap 32: McLaren can't help their rookie. Heads are in hands and there is an air of disappointment in the McLaren garage

Lap 31: Hamilton goes into pit lane for dry tyres. However, he spins off into the gravel at the start of the pit lane and is beached. The marshals try to help him but they can't. He gets out of his car. His race is over. Hamilton has retired from the Chinese Grand Prix

Lap 30: Trulli is now fighting with Hamilton as he unlaps himself off the Championship leader. Hamilton is struggling

Lap 29: Raikkonen gets a good run down the straight at Hamilton and almost takes the lead at the first corner. However, Hamilton fights back and retains P1

Lap 28: Hamilton runs wide, Raikkonen is right alongside him. Hamilton though nudges Raikkonen out of the way

Lap 28: Raikkonen has closed right up on Hamilton as the McLaren rookie runs wide. Ralf spins and retires and Sutil crashes and retires while Alonso runs wide

Lap 21: By staying out a few laps longer Raikkonen has halved Hamilton's lead, which is now just 4secs

Lap 15: Hamilton pits from the lead of the grand prix. He is in for 6.8s and keeps his intermediate tyres but the front-left is looking quite bald. Hamilton gets back on track ahead of David Coulthard

Lap 12: Hamilton is by far the fastest man on the track. He is lapping in the 1:45s while the rest of the pack are 1:46s to 1:48s

Lap 9: Hamilton does a new fastest lap time as he extends his lead over Raikkonen to 5.2s

Lap 3: Hamilton is pulling away from Raikkonen, the gap is now 2.0s

Lap 1: Great start from Hamilton while Raikkonen slots into second place, Fernando Alonso takes Felipe Massa at the first corner while Ralf Schumacher spins. Massa fights back two corners later and it back up into third place

Raikkonen wins with Alonso in 2nd place.

This leaves 3 drivers mathematically capable of winning the 2007 F1 World title.

      Lewis Hamilton - 107 points
      Fernando Alonso - 103 points
      Kimi Raikkonen - 100 points

      1st place    10 points
      2nd place    8 points
      3rd place    6 points
      4th place    5 points

Hamilton must finish 2nd if Alonso wins the Brazilian GP.
He must finish in the top 4 if there is a different winner.
Alonso is 4 points behind, Raikkonen is 7 points behind.

It's not over till it's over!

Not a fan but credit where credit's due...?

      F1 debut season statistics
      4x 1st places, 5x 2nd places, 3x 3rd places, 1x 4th, 1x 5th places, 1 retirement

Hamilton has matched or set the following records in Formula One:

          * Most consecutive podiums from debut race: 9 (previous record was 2)
          * Most consecutive podiums for a British driver: 9 (tied with Jim Clark)
          * Youngest driver to lead the World Championship.
          * Most wins in a debut season: 4 (equalling Jacques Villeneuve's record from 1996)
          * Most pole positions in a debut season: 6

I completely agree. I am not a fan of Hamilton at all and the main reason I watch Formula 1 is for Kimi. IMO on his day he is the fastest driver on the grid and is a joy to watch. What a turnaround it would be for him to win it on the last race as over the years he has been the unluckiest driver, especially with Mclaren where reliability cost him the championship.

      Come on Kimi  ;D

yes indeed but he's got a hell of a car....I mean I don't really care who win the title in formula 1 but all this hamilton mania is a bit much..the guy is a very good pilot, no doubt, but Jenson Button is too, unfortunately formula 1 is very much so about the car and then about the pilot. If Jenson was driving for mac Laren and hamilton for Honda, who will be racing for the title?....I can still remember the press going on and on about Jenson and now...rarely a word, although with the car he is having, he is doing exceptionally well...

And he's British don't forget that all important fact!

I would love to see Button alongside Hamilton @ MaClaren if they decide to get rid of Alonso and he opts for Ferrari (how interesting would that be) then we'll see how good Button can drive.

But for now we have an exciting end of season race to look forward too that is sure to be eventful.  It's unlucky that he could not wrap it up today but he'll want it even more now he knows how close Alonso is.

Alonso will go back to Renult, he knows that he is happy there. Ferrari are apparently interested in Robert Kubica.

He's a cheat.  I hope either Hamilton or Raikkonen wins it.  It will be a travesty if Alonso wins it to be honest.

Alonso has not given Hamilton the respect he deserves. Did he not try and shunt him off the track recently...? His own team mate...? He has met his Nemisis in Hamilton and is feeling very bitter regards his own own short comings.
If Raikkonen wins the F1 title then fair enough, he has done it on merit.... but Alonso - that would be tragic for lovers of true sportsmanship.
