If Crouchy can do that week in week out. With the service he was getting. Who needs another striker?
He has 9 league goals so far. But brilliant overall performance, I think it is nearly safe to say that third is ours.

Oh yeah, revenge is so very sweet today! Thought the tactics were spot on with Mascherano and Alonso in the middle with Gerrard just in front of them. Two very good passers of the ball to feed each flank and feed gerrard. Lots of neat passes. Really put a spanner in the works for the Arsenal midfield. Was disappointed with the unusual sloppiness for their goal, but apart from that, a very very good Liverpool performance! GET IN!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to watch it again after!!
By the way. How good was that save from Pepe in the second half?!!! :o Brilliant!

Great result, Crouchy, great  goals and all different finnishes. Mascherano bossed the middle, brilliant game in such a short time with the reds, fitting in nicely. We got a bit negative for a while inthe last 20 . Thought we were going to let the arse back into it, then we recovered and finnished in total control. Never imagined 4-1 though, just brilliant,  Can't wait for the PSV game. COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS !!!

      My view of the match:

Reina (6) - Didn't have too much to do, but dealt with problems when they arose. Can't be blamed for the goal.

Aurelio (7) - Looked a lot moe like the player I thought we were buying in the summer, some brilliant crosses, not to mention the free kick, but most importantly more defensively sound than I've seen him all season.

Carragher (6) - Quiet by his standards, but then again did any of our defenders have much to do? Pulled off a vital challenge against Adebayor, can't blame him that they didn't cause us many problems.

Agger (7) - Not sure if he actually knew too much about the goal, it didn't even seem to change direction after he touched it. Same as JC, not a lot to do, but an extra point for the goal.

Arbeloa (8 ) - Well, Carra's said it, and I agree with him. This guy's gonna be a first team regular. Sublime cross for the first, defensively sound, and always a threat going forward. So glad we got him rather than that muppet Neill, just goes to show second choice can be best sometimes.

Gonzales (6) - Same as the rest of the season, great in patches, but overall not a quality performance. I really think Rafa did the wrong thing talking him up so much before he arrived. Not jumping on the 'get rid of him' bandwagon, as I think he will improve vastly, he is showing glimpses of what he can do, but not there yet. Brilliant first time cross in the first half though.

Alonso (5) - Went missing for most of the game. I commented to my mate on thirty odd minutes that it was the first time I'd heard a commentator mention his name. Definately one of his worse games.

Mascherano (9) - What a difference a new club can make! I was encouraged by is debut, but this was a spectacular performance. Much as Alonso wasn't mentioned, Mascherano was involved in near enough every build up. Excellent performance, great tackling, great passing, very encouraged for the future.

Pennant (7) - Another player who stepped up to the mark today. Back heel for the first - Absolutely magnificent. This lad is starting to look better & better, he put in a couple of lovely crosses today, definately looked like he had a point to prove after being left out of the England squad, and who better to do it against?

Gerrard (6) - Looked jaded, after his performance against Andorra, who can blame him? Should have probably buried the only decent chance he had, probably didn't realise that a touch would've completely wrong footed Gallas.

Crouch (10) - What can I say? Whenever you doubt Crouchinho, he's there to prove you wrong. The perfect hatrick, one with his left, right & head. The first & third were brilliant, but the second was probably the most important for him, considering the stick he's had over his aerial ability. F#ck knows what treatment they gave you Crouchy, but it seems to have strengthened your neck muscles.

Eddie C.....good post mate, pretty spot on there....I'm still wondering why Rafa brought on Zenden....would have loved to see Robbie come on (prob his last game against The Arse) and score another 5 minute hat-trick ;)

Not too confident - sorry guys and gals.  We owe them big time.  Just got a bad feeling that our chances of 3rd are going to be in about 7 hours time.

      :(

Yep. I am the master predictor.....!

Great game, well played lads.  I wasn't confident but Crouchy really played well - even Gonzo and Pennant had good games.  Mascherano looks like a great deal - unbelievable West Ham never played him.

Revenge of sorts for those two cup exits.  We beat Arsenal and Chelsea at home, convincingly, and SHOULD have beat United at home.

A vast improvement on our normal form against the other teams in the top four this season.

Well, I've been a heavy critic of Crouch and his heading ability, but after yesterdays goals.......Great win for us, we played outstanding. Mascherano was brilliant. New club, manager who understands him brings out that kind of performance. I'd love to see Tevez here in the summer.  What's West Ham's loss is our gain  ;D ;D

      Bring on PSV  ;)

I think Finnan & Riise's places are now in serious danger after yesterdays performance from our full backs. I think our fullbacks yesterday flow much better than Finnan & Riise and thats why we usually fail to score but hopefully things are looking bright and now we don't need Daniel Alves.

I always knew Pennant was quality, i don't just jump on the bandwagon like load others do (not naming any) and Speedy showed flashes of him old self just wait to he plays regularly he will be immense for us with his pace even though i think he's lost a yard or 2 due to injury's and rustiness

Outstanding display, did what we have n't done enough of all season, been clinical in the finishing department.
More often than not chance after chance goes begging in games, the early goal certainly helped, took away any apprehension in our play.
I thought Crouchie looked well up for the match from the first whistle, playing like a man who had been layed off for 3 weeks, he should break his nose more often!!!
All the goals were well worked and came from wide areas which is always good to see.
Roll on the next game, we can build on this performance and push hard to the end of the season and who knows there could be a trip to Athens on the horizon, here's hoping.  :ernaehrung004:

Excellent result.  Peter Crouch was awesome yesterday... the guy never loses confidence and proved his doubters wrong yet again.

      Love this pic...
