Bye Xabi although its not the end of the world, it does rather feel like a kick in the balls, finding a replacement with the same range of passing isn't going to be easy.

On another note there is also a few decent songs that need rewriting ???

      :f_tongueincheek:

Gutted but optimistic, and i think that goes for most.

Just hope he has left without acrimony and that he thanks the fans for their support which was always there for him.He seems a genuine guy but who is going to get oppostion players sent off now he has gone.

werent they a Welsh stoner metal band who were about during the 1990s,

Sorry about that getting back on topic, he does seem a genuine guy and I wish him all the best for the future, we just need to sign someone with two wooden legs for the opposition to kick and get themselves red carded, it was quite unbeliveable how many red cards were given for tackles on Alonso last season.

Goodbye Xabi farewell, your class is evident for all too see, IMO Madrid got a steal considering you have got your best years ahead of you for the next 4-5 seasons.

What the f**k was Perez thinking trying to haggle for you.

I was similarly choked up for a moment as I was with your Steven Gerrard story Video's in the Ask Rafa thread.

That was the same for me. :( We're gonna miss him, not just as a player but as a character and a part of our club, something he doesn't seem to have understood in his haste to get away.

      Alonso passes Real medical
Midfielder on brink of finalising move from Liverpool

A fee was agreed between the two clubs on Tuesday evening, with Real expected to pay in the region of £30million for the former Real Sociedad man.

Real have spent much of the summer trying to conclude a deal for Alonso, who outlined his desire to leave Anfield last month by handing in a transfer request.

He is now close to finalising his move to the Santiago Bernabeu after passing a medical and holding talks over personal terms.

Alonso is expected to become Real's final signing of a hectic summer which has seen the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema arrive in the Spanish capital.

The club will now focus on selling players on the fringes of Manuel Pellegrini's team, with Klaas Jan Huntelaar expected to lead the departures.

So I guess that's it.  It's good bye to Xabi Alonso.  It's actually sunk in and I'm quite speechless.  :(

      Know the feeling.

Onwards and upwards, as they say. It's all downhill after Liverpool.

On SSN there was footage of him lying on the medical table with his thumb up.  I think he'll do well at Madrid, but if he doesn't or has an average season, & for some reason Real consider selling him, I'd be all for bringing him back.

After all, Rush came back after one season at Juventus.  It's happened before.

Ahh yeah he looked happy, walking through the airport, signing stuff, lying on the medical table, good for him, we'll push on and succeed anyway.

Just like Owen when a main player leaves we go on to bigger and better things (winning champion's league) maybe this year when Alonso is in Spain on the bench Gerrard will be on a platform lifting number 19 ;D.

Would be icing on the cake to win number 6 at the Bernabeu as well ;)

Like your thinking i think we can reach the final this year just hoping its not at the expense of number 19. I think playing for Real Madrid will dent Alonso's world cup chances as he wont be getting as many games as he would have with us i can see Fabregas overtaking him this year.
