      Players who have failed medicals
      Aug 06, 2009 01:15:18 pm
Thought i might as well make this topic in light of our recent signing (Subject to medical)

Has there ever been any big name, world class players who failed medicals and caused a transfer to fall through?

Very sad for Finnan's move to Hull. I thought he would work well there given that he was our unsung hero during his five year reign here.

      Best of luck Finnan.

Yeah that's right. Apparently the problem with his teeth could 'indicate potential spinal troubles'.

I can recall two players failing medicals at Anfield in my time. The first was Frank Worthington who was a big bustling center forward in the old style, the second player was Asa Hartford.Though both players failed the L.F.C. medicals they played for many years  after. If my memory is correct both players had heart problems.

One player who never failed his Anfield medical but should of was Harry Kewell. He seemed to have medical problems from day one.

Yes he did but it did not affect his game,Frank Worthington also had a heart problem.I cannot remember the full details but think it was a heart murmur or his heart was racing.I recall Bill Shankly did not like having to tell Frank he could not sign for L.F.C.

Makes you wonder what our medical test is made up of, after Kewell and Degen got through it.

Do they just count the player's legs and check to see if he isn't blind? :-\

ayrton I agree with you,I certainly could not understand the Degan signing as he had medical problems all the previous season.I do not want to comment further on H.K. with all the wages he took from this club.

Right. Wolfsburg called more money. So, Armin Veh wants three really good striker. Now, they have Martins, Dzeko and Grafité.

Off topic this, but since you are German Cellieh, if you know, what kind of system have Wolfsburg been playing this past season and how are they going to change to accommodate 3 strikers? Or is Martins there for cover, because I wouldnt break up Dzeko and Grafite's lethal partnership.
      Please do enlighten me.

Back to medicals, how did Rosicky ever pass one, hes injured now yet again!

In past season, Dzeko and Grafite were set. Veh said, that Martins is initially Back up, but he has the chance, one of them to oust and they want to play with three strikers against small teams like Freiburg, Mainz or Nurnberg. Grafite is the player of the season 08/09, but I think he will be not so good in this season and Martins will play next to Dzeko.
I hope, they play against Liverpool in CL. I don't like the "car-team". :)
They want three very good strikers, because they think, they have got good chances in CL and DFB-Cup. In League, they are one oft the favorites next to Stuttgart, Munich and Bremen I think. And Hoffenheim wants to be champion, too. Btw. a german rockband-singer (Liverpool-Fan) said, that he hopes, that Hoffenheim plays against the reds soon, to shoot the a****les out of Anfield. :D
