      Everton's Charity Work Continues
      Mar 29, 2007 03:47:32 pm
Everton as we where told last week are one of the most charitable clubs in the Premier league and last night as part of Heritage week the deluded ones of yesteryear played against a Barca old boys eleven with all the money raised from the match going to the Everton Collection Charitable Trust, the trust is the charity that is raising funds to buy the David France Collection of memorabilia surrounding Everton Football Club, described by Christie's as the greatest if not slightly limited collection they have ever seen relating to one football club.
With this in mind the worrying thing was if  Goodison would be big enough to cope with all these charity giving blue noses, luckily it was…just!  As a whopping 6,700 spread themselves out to see what might have been, Ian Ross said “it’s unfinished business as Barcelona were European Cup finalists in 1986, the year Everton had hoped to mount a European Cup challenge of their own until the ban on English clubs was inflicted”. As you probably know Everton would have won the European Cup in 1986 but for us getting them banned on purpose, well if last night was anything to go by it's a good job as the Barca old boys won 5-3 and that with a player with a wooden leg one who is blind and one more who passed away at breakfast.
But never mind hey with 6,700 in the ground the ground share is still a possibility and at least next time you sing if you know your history you can add yes and where still trying to raise the money to buy it….Muppets!!
