Just been offered a new job.

Going from 45 hours, 5 days over 7 days to 35 hours over Mon - Fri.

Different sector completely, different job role with a pay cut but a much better work/life balance for me. Cannot wait!

      Thanks mate!

That's my thinking too, not all about money at the end of the day. Will be dropping about £250p/m but have been told there's always overtime and bank holiday work available and I can choose whether to do it but it's time and a half and double time respectively.

I'm over the moon to be fair, needed to make the change as I was really unhappy in my last role in retail management.

It’s all about quality of life mate. Took me far too long to realise that.

Well done for identifying and acting on it.

Seems to be a bit of a trend reliable staff for small business got a few mates similar to you and they all struggle for reliable staff ,got a mate with a catering business , had to give up some big contracts for the want of reliable people , another mate runs a small engineering and fabrication business and he’s in the same boat quite worrying where the trend is going .

Yeah, I noticed it before I moved to the UK actually, and I got a retail job offer after searching for a couple of months when I got here. Don't get me wrong I loved my staff and respected a lot of other colleagues in the business, but my line manager hadn't a clue how to motivate or people manage and made me feel like I couldn't take days off so I knew I needed to pack it in.

I left my last job on Thursday last week and interviewed for this one on Friday. Funny how things work out.

Have to agree with everyone in regards to reliable workers though, found it very hard to recruit in my last role. I think some of it is the fact that so many big business F**k people over with sh*t hours and sh*t contracts and then everyone gets tarred with the same brush.

Two weeks in now in my new job, love it so far.

Weekends to myself, log out on Friday and no longer have to worry about work when I'm off.

Been doing a lot more workouts too, maintained weight but losing inches around the waist and chest and gaining muscle.

So at the end of my youngest son’s middle school track meet they had a Parents 400m. I ran it in 1:26 at about 70% effort for most of the way, speeding up at the end. Pretty happy with that. I’ve never been fast but it was fun to stretch the legs a bit.

But even more fun, youngest set a new personal best in the 1600 with a 5:42 and the oldest set a new personal best in the 1600 with a 4:49.

Thanks, I really love that they’ve taken to the sport. Although Cross Country is my favorite sport for them.

      Nice one pal.

Starting PT next week (wouldn't have a clue where to start on my own) after saying I would at the start of the year.
