      Glasgow Next Week
      Mar 29, 2007 05:34:09 pm
      Right,

In Glasgow next Tuesday and staying over. Anybody recommend a 'reds' friendly pub to watch the PSV game in? I'm staying at the Novotel near the Sports Bar on Sauchiehall Street but that looks a bit too plastic and commercial for my tastes. Any Glasgow reds got any recommendations? (Must serve a decent pint of 'Heavy').

      Cheers
       :)

Molby, it might be worth posting on one of the Celtic Fans forums, i've chatted to some of their fans and they are really nice people, i'm sure they'd help out and give you the best advice.  thegreenbrigade.com is a good website.   ;)

In Glasgow on Monday night for the first time in my life. One night.

We will be getting right on it about 6.30pm but could do with some advice on where to go please as we won't have a clue. There will be two of us boys and I'm partial to many different varieties of watering holes.

Was trying to work out why we're playing PSV for a minute.

I don't know Glasgow a great deal but I was with Rangers fans (Uncle supports them) when they invaded Manchester for the Uefa Cup final and I can tell you now I have never seen such a rowdy bunch in all my life. The single biggest piss up I've ever seen.

Been to Glasgow more than a few times with conferences at the SECC, unfortunately evening entertainment has always been arranged so can't really recommend where to go as the alcohol fuelled memory doesn't retain too much info but suffice to say it's a great place for a few pints, curry and whatever else you like........!

Just by having a mooch around on the internet and that I'm starting to think that one night isn't going to be enough and that I'm really going to like this place a lot.

In Harrogate on Tuesday night so open to advice for there too.

Good thing about Glasgow mate is everything is in walking distance. Monday night will be a bit subdued but you'll find something going on. I'd say start at the bottom of sauchiehall st and work your way down

Don't bother going out to the West End - overpriced tat and hipster central. Stay in the city centre (Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street, Argyll Street, George Square) - plenty of good clubs and pubs in all areas.

P.S. It's a much much much better city than Edinburgh!
