Liverpool owners to back Benitez in Eto'o bid

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will ask the club's new owners to back him in his bid to land unsettled Barcelona ace Samuel Eto'o.

The Daily Mail says Benitez will reiterate his desire to sign the Cameroon international tomorrow when he holds talks with new Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Benitez knows he needs reinforcements to bridge the gap between Liverpool and both Manchester United and Chelsea in the chase for silverware on the domestic front and in Europe.

And he will be granted his wishes to significantly strengthen his squad in the summer by billionaire partners Hicks and Gillett, who are determined to be go down in the annals of the club's history for all the right reasons.

It would be a good asset to us..for sure..Now just a little point to make on silverware, we might chasing behind these two this year on the domestic league, but no-one in this country has more trophies then us on the European scene, so, if anybody is chasing anybody here it's them..not us..just wanted to pointed out..

Etoo will be a good acqusition,but all will depend on whether he wants to move away from Barca.He not completely in love with Barca at the moment,so anything is possible.Hope it materialises

Jabba sometimes I think Benitez doesn't worry about character.....Bellamy and Pennant come to mind...as long as this bloke comes here and sticks the ball in the back of the net pretty much every time he plays in a red shirt, I'd be happy

I think I've heard differently. If you picked up Sundays Liverpool Echo - you would find he is trying to get a bid in for Owen.
