Of course we can, they just need to be given a bit of time - and Kyrgiakos will also help them learn new things.

Ayala is 20 - I don't think Kelly is far behind him.
Ask yourself - if a young Jamie Carragher was kicking about the reserve ranks, would he be given his chance (or a young Gerrard for that matter)

I'm a big Benitez fan but he is far too hesitant to trust our youngsters - look at Pacheco - hasn't kicked a ball for the fist team - at the same age Fabregas was a superstar.
Take yesterday - why is Voronin coming on as opposed to Pacheco or Nemeth?

I thought Ayala did a sterling job.  I really don't see the need in us buying this fella.

Is it me or would I rather get someone else in midfield rather than at centre back, we have 3 first team centre backs and seemingly Ayala for cover

But cant say ive heard of him in anyway so will have to see

he was at rangers in his mid 20s and was very clumsy - Rangers got rid of him after a year - can't imagine he's improved much since

Excellent post JD. I really don't see the point of investing heavily in academies if the youngsters don't get a chance. We also have Kelly too, been really impressed with what i've seen of him so far.

All we need is Silva, i reckon we're sufficiently covered elsewhere. As for the back up striker for Nando, we have N'Gog, Nemeth, Kuyt and dare i say it, Babel!!!!!!!!!!!  :lmao:

      Hello mates.

I've said it before and I'll just repeat it now.
Sotis is a good player and if things run smoothly, he will not be a 4th choice for the team... This is coming from an AEK fan, who has followed his style of play for quite a long time now.

I think he will be a good asset for the team.

I beg to differ - he was a donkey in the SPL

Can't really comment on him as a player haven't seen him but its encouraging to hear from someone like DouPantou who is an AEK Athens fan and has seen him play on a regular bases. Is he currently a regular with the national team DouPantou.

Don't realy know that much about him to be honest, SPL and Greek football has never been something I have watched, but 4th choice center back I wont really be alarmed by his quality alltho I would rather have spent the money elsewhere and blooded either Ayala or Kelly.

Hate to say this but he will.

      Carra, Skrtel, Agger, Kyrgiakos.

And I can't see him shifting mad Marty.

Can't say I've ever been arsed watching Greek footie or shitty Rangers but can you honestly see him being in the first team ahead of Skrtel or Agger.

      I can't. He's effectively back-up that's all.

Can't say that I've seen him play but he apparently is built like a brick sh*thouse. So I guess he will be used when we play teams with "robust" centre forwards such as Carew and Davies(Bolton) until our normal terminator returns.
