I think it's a bit unfair to judge him on his last few games, he was immense for us for a good part of the season, even Alan Hansen acknowledged this when he said: "you wouldn't expect Kyrgiakos to make such mistakes" (against West brom and Braga) meaning that it was just a blip.
Let's not forget that he was a snip at just £3 million with much lower wages than Skrtel, Aurelio, Carra, and they've made a few mistakes too in the season: penalties, poor marking leading to goals, failed clearances, etc.....so let's not be too harsh on Kyrgiakos' handful of mistakes in a generally solid season.
Also, he's an international, a Euro 2004 European cup winner with Greece, played in major tournaments and qualifying campaigns over a decade, played in the Bundesliga in Germany, played in Greece and Scotland too, he has VAST experience which will rub off on the younger players. His experience and influence on younger players was one of the reasons Rafa brought him in (look at the past posts in this thread for proof of this), and we are starting to see the fruits of this influence with a good crop of young defenders coming through...
