Sotirios Kyrgiakos - the Wolfsburg days

Should of been moved on this Summer.

Been a good servant & a decent asset for the £££ but its time to move on.

Hasn't he signed a 12 month extension to his contract think it was tied into his deal can't imagined the club decided he was good enough to give a new deal to.

I dreaded seeing him towards the end of last season and when he was beside Carragher it appeared they were playing a game who could hit the ball longer. The first 3 times he had the ball today he launched it 70 yards. Abysmal stuff

He's seems a genuinely nice guy but as is mentioned many times is not good enough for Liverpool FC. Would wish him well if he were to move on but not too sure there's much money left in Greece at the moment.

One of his passes actually was decent but I hate hoofed balls from the back and I think everyone wants to see us play the ball from the back to feet. So with one hand I'd be thanking him for his service during very difficult times and with the other I'd be ushering him out of the door, now is the time.

He is a lad suited to playing in a long ball team if I'm being honest, seems uncomfortable when he has to play the ball short

Like others, not comfortable with relying on him at CB, just proves the lack in depth we have, if we have to rely on him at any point in the season, hope he can be sold, so we can get a new CB in, one preferably younger and more mobile.

Well his wiki says central midfielder, we should just leave it at that .

But yeah, for me we need another CB, as this one is a liability, seems to slow on his feet.

Defo need a new one would be happy with any of these Godin/Dann/Cahill/Shawcross/Samba.

Played well against Hull - that big Nigerian striker didn't get a sniff ...Soto proved again that he is useful  to us when playing a long ball team. We will be resting our best defenders against teams like Stoke, Blackburn, Swansea, Wolves etc and this is where players like Soto will come in.
I think it's a little unfair to blame Soto for his long balls out of defence, Carra does this too, so does Skrtel, especially when they don't have a short pass option.
I think Kenny knows Soto's limitations (pace, ball possession, shooting) but he also knows Soto's strengths (heading, 2nd target man or decoy for corners/freekicks, physical strength, bravery, thou shalt not pass mentality) and Kenny will only select him in games where he thinks Soto will be suited agaisnt the opposition.
Considering the relatively low wages he's getting and the experience he provides our younger players, not to mention the cover he provides in case someone gets injured, I don't think it would be smart to get rid of him.

Fair play to you Soto - you had played enough to automatically get that extra year on your contract and you could have sat off for a year getting big bucks.  Hope you do a good job at Wolfsburg.
