      ;D @ that

Sure we were wasteful that is clearly evident, but it's not the only thing we were lacking in the game, but I'm going to go back and watch it again and see if there is some thing I have missed, because I still believe we were also lacking in the midfield.

And I mentioned it not long after the game that I thought we had more chances than in our 5-0 demolition of Villa 6 months ago.

Just checked and that was indeed the case.  We only mustered 7 on target shots in that 5-0 win, but we put 5 of those 7 in to the back of the net.

Villa never really turned that up that day did they ? we dominated them all over the pitch and took full advantage of every mistake they made no matter how small it was, I mean lets be honest who'd have thought of Reina playing a long ball down the pitch and Reina snatching on to it and unleashing a ferocious drive for 20 -30 yards out and beating the keeper ?, it was just one of them games where everything went right for us.

In reflection the game the other night was quite the opposite.

Lucky i'd say mate, you would have found the boards quite depressing the days after the game :D Was a sh*te game by the players really, played ok at times but not good enough. Had 3 times as many shots, but just didn't take our chances. A dark day indeed, and one we will hopefully look back on as a turning point.. hopefully!

yes one reason for the loss torres was brutalized by villa players. the referees should closely watch star players for voilent acts of thuggery. its terrible that there is no accountibilty for acts of thuggery.

On another night we would of won that match 3-0 with the amount of chances we had, we were just unlucky.

The terrible defending from set pieces had nothing to do with luck im afraid!

Intelligent analysis, JD. How did you draw them up?

For me I don't see why Lucas is performing in Masch role though and Masch is performing in Xabi's role. They are all different players. I look it as that Masch is now much more sensible in his passing and his game has definitely gone up by a mile, however, Lucas' sideways movement is still evident.

Shouldn't we lock this thread now I think everyones well and truly expressed their disappointment at this performance and we should all be focusing on the match tonight.

That's a fair point, I think this has been analysed to death, and if anyone has a point to make that hasn't already been made in the last 15 pages, tough! Where've you been all week anyway?

      Locked.
