Fabio out for the rest of the season
      Apr 04, 2007 01:30:45 am

      From UEFA

Liverpool FC defender Fabio Aurelio is likely to miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off towards the end of the UEFA Champions League victory at PSV Eindhoven with a suspected rupture of his achilles tendon.

      'Terrible injury'

The 27-year-old Brazilian left-back was taken off with 15 minutes left of Liverpool's 3-0 quarter-final first-leg win at the PSV Stadium, and Rafael Benítez believes the injury is a serious one. "We played well, it was an organised and effective performance, but we are all more concerned about Fabio," said the Reds manager. "It was a terrible injury. We believe it is very serious although we will not be sure until after a scan when we get back to Liverpool."

Hope the injury isn't too serious.  Really been playing well recently....was going to say just starting to find your feet...  ::)

      Hang in there Fab

It seemed that it's an achille rupture, a very bad and career risk injury. Good luck Fabio, all the best.

Liverpool have confirmed that Brazilian left back Fabio Aurelio will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his achilles tendon in Eindhoven on Tuesday evening.
Aurelio fell to the ground in agony during the second half of the Reds' emphatic 3-0 victory and left the stadium on crutches after the game.

He underwent a scan on Merseyside where it was revealed he faces up to four months on the sidelines.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: "A scan has confirmed a complete rupture of the achilles tendon in Fabio's right leg.

"The player will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for approximately three to four months."

I can't believe it.  He's been doing well onthe left for us, with some superb crosses.  He'll be missed in the run in to close of season.

      Get well SOON Fab

Are all our players on the left cursed?

Kewell's been out for the whole season, then Garcia, now this.

If anything happens to Riise now it's gonna look like a very silly move selling Warnock. In the meantime we're gonna be stuck with Zenden & Gonzales fighting it out for left wing. Joy.

Rafa Benitez expects Fabio Aurelio to return for pre-season following a successful operation on his Achilles tendon.
The full-back was stretchered off against PSV on Tuesday night, with initial fears he could miss the start of next season.

But Benitez today confirmed: "He will be fit for the pre-season. Yesterday he had an operation and it was really good. It was over quickly – the doctor carried out a new kind of operation."

The injury came hot on the heels of some of Aurelio's finest moments in a Liverpool shirt, most notably two assists against Arsenal last weekend.

Benitez added: "He was playing really well, so it was a pity to see him get injured again."
