+ 3 points and Torres seems to be back on form
       - Defense was still really mediocre, set pieces are our nightmare. Gerrard was too quiet.

was struggling to watch that one out. would have been a sickener not to have taken all 3 points despite the bad defending in the first half.
thank the gods for Nando yet again.

Torres - always the best when it's the most necessary  :aaliverpoolwz0:

And I'm particularly pleased that very Babel was the assistant  :)

      Relief.

We were quite good in attack but defensively we were a joke. Corners are always a nightmare but this time I wish set pieces were our only problem... Carra looked lost the whole game.

Must give credit to Babel too, brilliant cross for Torres. I found it interesting that in the last 2 games, Rafa used him on the right side, and he shown some good stuff there. Obviously I still need much more to be convinced, but those were good signs at least - I won't be so negative next time Rafa brings him on. The problem is he always looks like he'll waste possession when he needs to come back too much to get the ball, while he is a lot dangerous near the area.

Well done to Dirk, Fernando and Babel, who came on and did well for the second time on the bounce.

We didn't play very well today, and we were ripped apart by that Hines fella. Have to say though, that was never a penalty. It's the type of challenge that you see about 500 times in every game, and it's never a foul. This is supposed to be a physical league, what's the point in calling it physical if we can't play the physical side of the game? Softer than soft, that penalty. The fact that he touched the ball twice is a different matter altogether.

The second goal proves we need someone on the posts. That header is gobbled up and hoofed away by anyone on the post, and thus, we retain our lead.

The officiating in general was absolutely dire. Some of that blokes decisions were abysmal, and the rest were sub standard.

thought Babel did well when he came on even if he had a few stray passes. Johnson got tight on Hines and kept him quiet in the last 20 mins.

me too. and playing on the right.

i think he can be an alternative option to Kuyt. just needs to be more selfless.

WTF, was looking at the team lineups from liverpoolfc.tv and found this:

Liverpool: Reina, Insua, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson, Benayoun, Mascherano (captain), Leiva, Kuyt, Gerrard, Torres. Subs - Babel, Degen, Dossena, Kyrgiakos, Cavalieri, Riera, Aurelio

Weve got to believe the defence will get their sh*t together, it is so un -Liverpool like the ammount were letting in. But if these are bad times and were still picking up the 3 points at West Ham which isnt the easiest place to win, then bring on the good times because they will be something. To be honest i always feared it would take a while to adapt to playing without the cover of Alonso, but we'll sort it out. Anyway well done to Nando. great to see him back amongst the goals, like i said before the game ;) Watch him go now.

conceding at set pieces is a worry.

but we haven't conceded a goal from open play this season, if i'm not mistaken.

They made a mistake I think. Gerrard was captain today.

Defensively we were poor today we really struggled with Cole. Offensively I thought we looked dangerous every time we went forward. Thought Masch and Torres were our best players today. Thought Babel looked dangerous when he came on. We really really have to cut out goals from set pieces otherwise it is going to cost us in the big games this season.

      Yossi for me.

By far our best attacking player on the pitch.  Torres first goal was class no doubt about it - but for people who can look past the final score and scorers on teletext - then it has to be Yossi.
