      Muse - The Resistance
      Sep 20, 2009 09:14:42 pm
Just downloading it now from Itunes.

So far I've heard 'Uprising' and 'Undisclosed Desires'. Both are fantastic songs. Looking forward to listening to the rest!

Anybody else got their hands on this album?

What are the 'symphony' songs like mate?

They sound quite interesting from what CRK was telling me.

I prefer the likes of Origin of Symmetry and Absolution.

      Still a good album, though.

Matt Bellamy really is a fantastic guitarist isn't he. Makes some incredible sounds. I don't think he gets recognised enough for that actually.

They're brilliant, they fit brilliantly with the whole album.

All three are kind of a like a story if you get what I mean. Some of it's a bit hard to explain! Have a listen though, I'm pretty sure you'll be impressed by it.

It's absolutely fantastic, album of the year by a country mile.

The standard of songwriting is just through the roof and the Queen influences such as the orchestral arrangements and the vocal harmonies are pushed right to the fore, don't expect an album full of hit singles though like the last 2 were as it's not as accessible as those records but in the long run I think it's a very rewarding and excellent album.

In reference to Matt Bellamy's guitar playing now the one guitar player I would compare him to is a guy called Adrian Belew who played for Talking Heads, David Bowie and also King Crimson. Bellamy was always a fantastic musician but now he's up there with the best, as are his bandmates.

The bass on 'Undisclosed Desires' is sublime. Love it.

United States of Eurasia... is a rip off of Queen so much!

      Still a good song though.

Well if you're going to pick a band to rip off you could do far far worse.

thought this was the right place for this video

Muse are asked to play for an italian show but they don't let them perform live, so they decide to take the piss and switch places. Check it out

I thought the same thing. I also noticed a Chopin part somewhere (my brother was listening to the album, I was just overhearing :P )

At the moment it seems like 'Uprising', 'Undisclosed Desires' and 'United States of Eurasia' are by far the stand out songs... or is it because I need to listen to the other tracks more?

      Fantastic album!

To me, Muse have ever put a foot wrong. This album is just another classic on their excellent playlist.

I think Resistance is the best song on the album. The rest are brilliant but that has repeat qualities. You'd happily listen to it, then skip back. I did a few times yesterday on my travels. :D

The symphonies are amazing too. I know what you mean when you say they're like a story. Very progressive, build up and then BANG! Just kicks off.

Have to go see these again. They were amazing at Wembley Stadium. Amazing every time anyway. :)

      Weird that.

Costing my mum about £40 to see them at Liverpool Echo Arena in November.

      Good show?

I'm still getting into this album, I'm finding it a bit difficult at the moment though. Kinda finding that I'm listening to the ones I know and not the ones I don't. Now and again I'll play a new one though. Don't know why I'm doing that, just am!

Is it Resistance or Uprising that keeps going on per chance?
