      Northern soul music
      Sep 24, 2009 03:51:59 pm
Does anyone still enjoy Northern soul music, My mates and I are great fans of the music and are always looking for venues which play the sounds.Have just purchased 101 Northern soul Anthems ( 4CDs) a few weeks ago. There must still be plenty of fans all over the country still in to this great music.

Did you ever go to Wigan Casino David?

My elder Sister and her boyfriend were really into Soul, they used to go to the all nighters, I was jealous as hell, I wasn't allowed to go as I was too young, I think that's were I get my love of it from though, she was always playing the music in her bedroom.

Another one of my very favourites is Clean Up Woman by Betty Wright, have a listen to this.

My dad is so into northern soul music. He goes to all the venues. He has also wrote a book about his life growing up with the music and about going to Wigan casino after going to watch Liverpool. It's called searching for soul by reg stickings. It's In waterstones book shop and on amozon. He's also got a website wich you can find through google by typing searching for soul. He does his own northern soul doos and he is Dj ing at caister this weekend so I've give my cousin his ticket for the hull game.

Radio Lancashire broadcast a Motown and Northern soul show on a Saturday evening from 6 until 10 pm well worth a listen. I usually have a dance in the living room, drinking a few cans of Fosters !

Never got their myself, although been to the Twisted wheel, obviously not the original run by Pete Roberts. It is like a cellar split into two rooms, the music and atmosphere is great, with some really friendly people attending from all over the country. We have a great time visiting a few pubs & bars on the way !
