Hyypia is a world-class player. He looks more sharp then last year, maybe 'cos he didn't play very much. He is a genius defender. I think the rest of psv game will make him good 'cos it think he hasn't the pace to play 3 games in 8 days.

Its says a hell of a lot about his character for him to just refuse to be our fourth choice defender, and put up a fight for his place, and then take his opportunity's superbly well. A few others at the club could follow with the same attitude.

      He's amazing!  :o

       - Alonso said he's the one who puts in the most effort during training at 35 years old.
       - Finnish player of the year at 35 years old.
       - Demanding more games from Rafa at the start of the season at 35 years old.
       - Currently giving Rafa a headache for team selection at 35 years old.

All I can wish for him now is an EPL winners medal and another CL winners medal at 35 years old!  :) They should put his photo in the dictionary next to the word "professional".

I hope his fighting spirit rubs off on the likes of Yossi and Babel. He wasn't getting games and I saw no complaints in the papers, now he gets his chance, he's grabbed it with both hands and has been awarded with 2 starts in a row, both of which he's been one of our best players on. True legend.

Sami could have gone to a smaller club and walked himself into the team. But he didn't. He stayed and fought for his place. That is the attitude that Liverpool players should have. Fight and battle your way into the team and then put in a performance that merits a place in the team the next week.

He could have agreed but why would he do that when he could go out as a legend , Dicks Ruddock Hencoz Babb etc all went to other clubs and sizzled out of existance Sami wont go that way without a fight and fair play to him.

That header has summed up his career with us. Towering, strong and grabs vital goals. He is the perfect Liverpool player and someone i admire.

He deserves every accolade and positive comment because he is a Liverpool legend without a shadow of a doubt and just to top off his career, his name and number are on the back of my shirt.

I'm not getting too carried away here but Sami is looking back to his best. People constantly wrote him off because of his age but last season and this he's rarely put a foot wrong. Last season he stepped in when called upon because of Agger's injury and this year Skrtel's injury, it seems as if the competition for places is bringing the best out of our number 4.

Quality player who I wouldn't be disappointed to see get another contract extentsion come the end of the season, if not sooner.

Played like a striker today, got in some excellent positions, and that header was brilliant.

He could have had a hat-trick today.

Love him to bits, top top player.

Got to stay on at Anfield when he finishes playing, he will be such an asset in Rafa's Bootroom  :)

He could well have gotten a hat trick if it hadn't been for Given. Was impressed with his goal, the trademark Hyypia header we have seen so often.

What an excellent goal that was text book stuff really. I really can not think of a defender at present who poses such an aerial threat for the opposition.

Fkn legend Sammi you truly are!
