      Digger sacked at Tranmere
      Oct 09, 2009 01:21:27 pm
John Barnes has been sacked as manager of Tranmere. Assistant Jason McAteer has also been sacked. Sorry to hear that but Tranmere had been fairly poor this season

What a shame I really wanted to see him do well. Maybe he's just not cut out for management.

He wasn't doing well there. Hope he gets another chance in management.

I think doing a bit of coaching under a quality manager would do him some good. Maybe Rafa? Even helping out the ressies or something.

      Hard lines Johneh Barneh.

Still, they've held your old job open for you at The National Trust.

I dont think it ever got going for them there. Managers are judged on results and unfortunately they didnt get many good results. As a previous post said I hope they get another chance.... but you could see this coming.

Suppose he didn't have all that much time under King Kenny's influence at Celtic. Apparently he's 'too nice' though. Maybe some graft down a lower league might do him good? Somewhere where he'll get more respect?

Let's face it, any team with a run of results that Tranmere have had lately, the fans aren't gonna be happy. But to boo before a game just doesn't cut it with me. And things like that get absorbed by the players.

To be honest, I don't know what he was doing taking over there. It's a Merseyside club so the pressure and spotlight was always gonna be that more bit intense.

Best of luck for the future to one of the best players I've ever seen grace the red shirt though.

A pity. I wanted him to do well there and build his managerial career, but maybe it was not to be.

Sorry it didn't work out for him but it is no suprise with the start they have had.Should not have changed anybody from last year just missing out on the play offs on last day of season so blame it on the directors for changing things that seemed to be going well.

Not cut out for management at the moment, a coaching role at a league 2 team would do no harm. Best of luck lads.

2 wins in 11 is a bad start no matter who you are. Hard stuff is management.

When the players nicked named the manager and his assistant as Dumb and Dumber it was only a matter of time really wasnt it. Both great Liverpool players but not sure if they have the qualities needed for management.

I'd have him back here showing Riera and Babel how it's done.

He's probably still better than them! :D

In all seriousness that might not be a bad idea - might be a decent coach for the wingers?

      Then again, might not.
