      Degen's Red Card Appeal Rejected

      Degen appeal rejected by FA

Philipp Degen's appeal following his red card against Fulham has been rejected

Liverpool defender Degen was dismissed late on in the 3-1 defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday after a lunging challenge on Clint Dempsey.

The Anfield outfit felt referee Lee Mason had been harsh on the full-back and were keen to see the offence downgraded to a caution.

But the Football Association's regulatory commission have agreed with Mason's verdict and Degen must now serve an immediate three-match suspension.

Rafa Benitez will now be without Degen's services for the Premier League clashes with Birmingham, Manchester City and derby rivals Everton.

Can't see Carragher winning his appeal then.

Of the 2, I thought this was the most likely to be overturned. Oh dear.

      That is bollocks!

There was nothing in it yes he did try to lunge but he made no contact what so ever.

      Think we all did fella.

Thing is though we're never going to win appeals until the FA get out of the alcoholics ass and stop loving the Mancs.

Considering he's played about two games in 23 years, he'll hardly be missed tho'.  ;D

Usually that would be the case but no Johnson, Kelly or even Carra to play right back now.

      Shitty isn't it.

Darby might get the nod maybe? Or maybe Skrtel on the right with Ayala in the centre. Ain't sure about this but probably Jay Spearing can fit at rightback too, seen him there a couple of times.

Degen gets 3 games and Carragher - I would imagine - will get 1 game.

Watching those challenges back again - that is some serious injustice.

Lee Mason - remember that ref's name.

Hopefully Darby. Last time Skrtel played there he got ripped to pieces.

I wish we had Wiley every game, he's one good Ref. He wouldn't have sent either player off IMO.

It was a lunge and the FA said that any serious contact with Dempseys leg would have resulted in a serious injury and so the red card is warranted  :f_steam:

Am I going to get arrested if I attempt to get in my car.  After all, there's the potential I may go through a red light.

FA need to get a grip and watch the actual games.

F**k the FA! The ref was a F***ing tit too. They want to see Liverpool going down. we already have a long injure list. Now Carra and Degen out for 3 games?! F**k you all! Lucky the international is coming. hope some of our players will get a rest and recover from the injure.

There's one thing to be said about rugby mate the ref uses photographic evidence to assist in the decision and as we all know physical contact is an integral part of that game, his decision can even be overturned by the camera as well which is no doubt a blasphemy to the the FA oligarchs.

      Agree.

Shame about this decision, but Skrtel should never, ever play right back for this club again.
